What does Confuse block?
The archer Trick skill Confuse is supposed to prevent opponents from casting "non-damaging" spells.
This would seem to include buffs and auras, but does it also include offensive spells that don't cause direct damage, e.g. Ambush or Distraction Shot?

When 'confused' all you can do is use 'damaging' attacks, basically, you have to fight. You can only use spells that cause direct damage.

A non-damaging skill is every skill that doesn't do a direct damage to the target's Hit Points. Ambush, for example, just knock down the target, but doesn't do damage, so it's blocked by Confuse.
It's this the reason why the conjurers are the main targets, almost all (Or in some players all) the conjurer's skills are non-damaging, so he/she can't heal himself or his allies.

Like both said above me, Confuse blocks more than just buffs and auras. It blocks some of the key spells in every class: Death Sentence from a marksman, Feint from warriors, ambush, sudden strike from archers, ambitious sacrifice, MoD from warlocks, and practically everything on a conjurer. All that on top of blocking every single buff and aura each class has.
Confuse also blocks confuse

I guess I have one last question on this topic.
In the case of a spell like Ensaring Arrow that causes both damage and debuff what would happen? I would assume the entire spell can be cast (including the debuff), rather than it being totally cancelled, or only the damage having effect.

Correct. If the spell has damage, the entire spell goes through.
It's exactly the same deal as Divine Intervention: Divine Intervention protects against everything that Confuse blocks.

Ethereal Arrow, Vampirism, or Soulkeeper are non damaging spells or they do count as damaging spell ? In the second case retaliation should be corrected to return the dmg.

Or do mean it should soak health from the warlock and add to the archer? |
