Archers have gone quiet
I want to congratulate NGD on the way they have put archers 'back in their place'.
Before the update we had a ridiculous situation where they could tank into a group, kill someone whilst 10 enemies attacked them, and get out alive! There is no reason whatsoever that they ought to be able to do this, and with the update they can no longer behave like knights. It is a great move by NGD. They have forced archers to behave like archers - using range to weaken or pick off enemies at distance. The new SOW is finally correct IMO - used for making a quick exit under fire rather than for offense. The broken evasion SHOULD NOT be returned to what it was - i have for a long time called for a move away from evasion. Even tho this makes my main char a lot weaker, i stick by this because i think that too much evasion ruins the game. Tho i do believe that hunters need something extra: more dmg reduction maybe, or pets with skills. On the whole - wicked job on the update. No more archers behaving like knights! Archers have certainly gone quieter and are not so sure of themselves now. I think that now archers are not as powerful as they were, the true archers will remain - the 'fakes' will switch class! |

Nice post Wudy... I think the thing that would now balance out hunters perfectly is the suggestion done by Katiechan: http://regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showthread.php?t=34442
Perhaps also a small increase of the damage boost in Head of the pack to promote hunters working together with others and not only hunting solo?

The pet idea will provide effectiveness on hunts. The Head of the Pack idea will as you say promote group fighting hunters. I also believe (quite strongly) that acrobatic should have a closer duration/cooling time. |

I will hold my hands up and say that my first reaction to this update was 'sod it I will stop playing my hunters' but, after careful thought and ranting at some very patient and good friends (they have to be), have come to the conclusion that learning better tactical play wil only help deepen my enjoyment.
I tried to give you green karma Wudy but have to spread it around to others apparently. Your posts helped me decide to continue playing Best Regards

Well, I may have spoken too soon. There are some things I don't seem to like, but overall wz seems to be good. Once I get my computer fixed I am anxious to see the new fort wars. It could be like beta before, the evasion tree. If it's anything like that I think it's going to be awesome. Less spell resists, and more strategy to an extent. Marksmen will now stand on fort walls, or right beside the forts. It used to be like that in beta, and made for some cool fort wars. I do like the overall direction that the game is going; except for the leveling aspect. The war zone fighting is getting way better now with the recent update, but something needs to be done about the leveling aspect. If mobs are going to have spells; maybe make the mobs worth more xp/gold/items. It would be cool to be able to level in groups again too. It's the only thing that seems to really need some attention. I am working really hard on fixing my pc, so maybe I can play some tonight. btw, what is the new son of the wind? I have heard that spell has been change also.

Forts and castles have not been this busy for a along time (especially the Alsius castle/forts on Ra, but that's another story ) And yes most archers are now where they should be - at range picking off enemies from afar. And knights with their longer AOO are commonly leading the charges. And importanlty: you can now feel assured that your areas will have a high chance of being effective, making them worth the mana and the risk of casting them. |
