Tactics please
How does a knight beat an archer, one on one?
The archer runs faster so whenever you get close they just run away, if you run they can follow fast enough to get keep shooting and keep up. Is there some spell I am missing that gets you close enough? Barbs can onslaught and catch anything, mages have range. Knights have 2.4m max range, it's not that difficult for an archer to stay more that that far away. I'm sure the lvl50's amongst will have plenty of ideas, just remember we aren't all lvl 50 and given they have reduced caution and given monsters spells it's going to take the rest of us even longer to get close to 50. Spring makes a knight about as fast as a slow archer, not considering they have escapist, evade spells, Sotw....
And the range of the others is? 2.4m max. How do I get close enough to cast disable limb and balestra? I ask as I just had a run in with Rustu who all credit knew what to do but I was helpless, he just stayed out of range, when I got anywhere near he hit escapist or his speed. When I ran even with block, heroic presence lvl5 and protector on he had enough speed and shots to wear me down. His normal hits we 45-50 but enough of them kills, all he needed. |

Go and find a tree.. he will have to get close, or revolve around the tree to keep the distance, thats your chance to hit him, once hes close you have to keep him busy , Irae tactics works well.. feint trip dizzy feint trip dizzy.. or kill his speed, or both.

Thanks, it's a shame though that for a knight to get close to an archer he/she needs to find a tree or rock and play silly games!! This is surely an example of a rather frustrating flaw in the Knight skill set. Just had a one v one against another knight too, we ended up both giving up and going our separate ways as it was taking way too long. Both blocking everything, low damage on any hits getting through. You just end up running up a big repair bill for armour for a handful of RP. |

Or you could just tell him you will pay him 300,000 gold if he spares you. :P

You can use Protector to reach the archer without getting too hurt, and the archer will also waste important mana that he would need to escape you.

If he keeps running, lower him to you, use a rock or tree or w.e. Its not pathetic, its just the same as an archer using the hit and run tactic. |

Only a stupid archer will fall for this. Its not the same for the archer, it's pathetic (your word not mine) that the knight has to use rocks and trees to even get a chance to hit the archer. It seems the best suggestion for a knight so far to get a hit in on an archer is run and hide behind a tree and wait for him to offer himself to you. Maybe NGD could give knights a piece of string with a donut attached to the end? We could lure archers in with this? |
