Character creation image display error

I just started RO and I can't create a character because the images have not displayed correctly.

Ubuntu 8.04 hardy

Any help?

Hey aetherguy881,

Ubuntu 8.04 comes with bad drivers for NVIDIA graphics hardware. This issue has been discussed alot in other support threads, I suggest you check the Support forum - Linux category.

The easiest solution is to upgrade your video drivers, but that is not so easy as it sounds.

This is really an easy one to fix - just upgrade your video drivers using "Install software" and select the packages with "-envy" in their name instead of the regular ones.
That is easy as it sounds.

I've looked around and haven't found much of anything. I'm still relatively new to linux too.

I hate to ask for spoon-feeding, but a little step by step might get the job done.

Use synaptic:
https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/add-app....html#synaptic
and from there search for "nvidia" - you should see the drivers installed and other ones called "nvidia-envy" (or something like that)
just mark the normal ones for remove and the envy-ones for installation and apply.
should work without a reboot just by logging off and back in.
I'm sure you can find more help at ubuntu's site if you run into problems.

if u have nvidia try searching this file in the synaptic:
Nvidia-glx and install it

Btw if u have some other problems with the games or hardware try this site: ubuntuforums.org.
This site has some news about the newest games for linux and some nice HOWTOS to fix ur computer up
