Default Are you bored? Then help me with something! (part II )

Gah,

Ive just bought a new notebook, but of course I bought it here meaning in Poland. All computers now have Vista shoved down their throats, and moreover the language is in Polish.

Anyone know how I could change the langauge to English permanantly ?

Or I still have my Windows XP disc in english, but when I try to install XP or downgrade it in other words it dosen't let me because its dulled out for some reason... do I need drivers or something?

Anyway if someone can help id appreciate it.
Damn Vista to hell,

You probably need SATA drivers for your chipset to get integrated into instalation disc (since it is a laptop i think you haven't fdd drive ). There is a software to do this. If you'd say exactly, what kind of laptop it is, if i'm sure ppl would be more likely to help you.

A tak poza tym Google twoim przyjacielem.

You can't downgrade.
You need to replace Vista with XP.

To do this, boot from the CD and follow the instructions.

Good luck.

Newer laptops have SATA hard disks which the default win XP installation CD does not recognize as a device, and therefore cannot use the hard disk, so you can't install XP.

What you can do is make your own XP install disk by using the original one and the driver files for the sata drive, making an XP install disk that can detect your hard drive during setup so you can install XP normally.

You might want to google for the specific notebook you have and XP install procedures, but here is a how-to of the above procedure I just googled:

http://www.lazydesis.com/help-sectio...tallation.html

I've done the procedure myself once but I can't remember which of the google results I ended up following. Good luck

I had this same problem with my fathers newest PC .... and Znurre and Mira are both correct.

You need a copy of XP which INCLUDES SP2 .............. SP2 has all the windows drivers for sata driven components. It is somewhat frustrating, but an older copy of XP will NOT work. It MUST contain SP2.

I hope this helps you, if all else fails, you can do what I did which is to use an older version of XP and "slipstream" SP2 into it, making it a bootable disk with SP2. It isn't hard to do, just not many know about this "lil problem" with Vista.
