dark screen

im not sure if its just my setup ( ub 8.04 and 8.10 nvidia card ) but the screen is very dark .. i have to push all my setting to max ( brightness contrast and gamma ) this really fades the colours and still leaves some dark bits .. anything else on the computer is almost unreadable

soo.

is there any way you can embed some ( more ) vid controls or brighten the whole thing ?

intel 8600 core 2 duo and an nvidia 256 meg ubuntu 8.04... 64 and ubuntu 8.10... 64

Check nvidia-settings, maybe you have to change the gamma from that app.

Alt+F2 and write nvidia-settings.
