Problems with melee classes (Warriors)
Hello Community,
Since the latest update (1.0.6) and with the speed increase, we have detected several shortcomings with the movement system. This issue affects mostly melee classes. We are analyzing the situation and are aware of the importance of this problem. As soon as we have a solution ready, which could take a while, it will be deployed to all servers. Please use this topic to reply about the general situation and not about specific balance issues. For such cases, use the sections related to those purposes. Regards,

Thank you for this topic.
In my opinion is it very hard at the moment for warriors to hit other targets because of a combination of position lag and the speed increase. Often player characters aren't showed at their real location, which makes it very hard to get them in a warrior's attack range. This problem increased with the speed increase, because now the difference between the real location and the shown one became bigger.

Hi Kailer,
I would just like to point out that most of the problem is caused by "position bug", which is a horrible inaccuracy in the positioning system that causes no end of problems for players. You see, I often play with my girlfriend next to me on another computer, and she is always in front of me by about ten meters on her screen, but just as far behind me on my screen. This is extremely bad for warriors and other classes with short range (e.g Hunters with shortbow), as it takes approximately five seconds to sync the positions before the update, and it's only become worse since. The whole problem is that players move faster than the network code has the ability to synchronize their positions, so they appear to be in a completely different location on their own screens than where they really are in the game world. This part of the engine has needed drastic improvement for years now, and I hope with this next hotfix NGD will really address the issue properly for the good of all classes. Please, no more casting Heal(5) on the code instead of properly replacing it. Regards.

Avoiding areas by moving backward might be due to positional bug.
But warriors are not only broken by positional bug. Also some skills do less damage then normals, have no effect, have cast time and costs mana at the same time which is insane. |
