Since I don't have uber gear and refuse to drop grind, does that mean I'll never be a great player? What's the fun in playing if it's your gear and not your skill that lets you pwn everyone you meet?

Whats the fun in being pwned by everyone you meet because they have uber gear? Its an Arms race if the enemy upgrades his arsenal then to keep up then you must do the same, sadly there are to few items to go around and a few extrame cases of loads of uber items coming together on one player.

Maybe I'm just unlucky since I've never dropped an Epic item (in 8 mil + XP of grinding). I have an Epic BP on my barb, but that's because someone else dropped it and gave it to me. I guess it's time to carry a rabbit's foot for luck or hang a "free RP here" sign around my neck.

I've seen level 5o players being killed by level 37 players, so I guess level 50 players without great great will still be able to kill level 50 players who do have. To me it seems that skill still defeats gear.(yay )

yes, it is possible. but after the fight u will have less than 800hp. if u have good gear max u can loose is 1k hp. talking about hunters atm.

Skill is still the dependent factor (ignoring luck, lag, etc...) but a warlock with +20% cast speed from gear only is going to have an advantage over a warlock with no cast speed gear,

A Barb who hits 200 more than you do with a wep of the same speed is going to have an advantage,

A Archer with a bow whos base normals are twice your own will have an advantage, and so on
