how is the server population? is most of the world a ghost town or are the areas populated as intended?

Ra is the largest server, with 90% spanish population. Horus is the second largest, with mostly English population. The others I'm not sure about..

will choose horus then but would still like to know its population. i know you said its the 2nd largest but are there enough people to fill it up or are most the areas empty?

Depends on the time of day. GMT daytimes typically are pretty full, North American (GMT-6 or so) afternoons/evenings are typically slow. Almost always you will find some enemies to fight by wandering around a bit, unless you play during the middle of GMT night.
