ATTENTION NGD: 3 Critical Problems Which Require YOUR Feedback
1. Remove Phantom Swings. It's when a melee character is attacking on the player's screen, but not really attacking at all. It wastes an attack cycle through an animation, but doesn't count as an attack server-side because of extremely bad positioning code.
At this point NGD has been abjectly mute about this subject. I think it's time everyone who has ever supported NGD and invested real money into this game got, at the very least, a straight answer from the source regarding these bogus Phantom Swings. We all deserve at least that much. At current, Phantom Swings serve no real purpose other than to aggravate and frustrate those playing the warrior class. 2. Fix Mouse Targeting. This is easy to fix. Have the mouse button which controls the camera only actually move the camera when SHIFT is held down. Otherwise, this mouse-button needs to be SELECTION/TARGETING ONLY. Targeting DOES NOT WORK WELL AT ALL in its current state where the mouse-button serves as both camera AND targeting. Any feedback on this would also be greatly appreciated. 3. Fix Positioning. It's still not fixed. At all. Fix it please. And the terrible lag-spikes which have been crippling Horus lately are making it way worse.

I concur, phantom swings are annoying when I'm up against challenging + monster =/, targetting is not so bad... but it doesn't mean it shouldn't be improved.
The position fixes are horrible, especially when it happens 2-3 times in a row ( I get knocked back over and over into the same spot ). The biggest problem I think however, is crashing. I've been getting these at LEAST once per hour! It's a massive turn-off and happens at any time, anywhere, doing anything. |

Enormous +1 to Kyro
First of all fixes MUST BE (and I weigh my words) : targeting It's now 6 months, yes you read it correctly, v1.0.7 (07-20-2009) = 6 months atm, we have a crappy targeting system. It has been introduced with "mouselook and mouse movement" that cancels any selected target. And yet, there are several viable solutions to counter this problem: - add a toggle button to activate or not the camera movement on the left button. - add a new key to target only enemies or only allies in a crowd, as L-shift, L-alt or any other keys (that disable rotation and can be binded of course) while clicking. (my favorite) - revert to the old system we had on v1.0.6 (that I don't really want, even if I think that was fully better than now)

Agree totally. I have always wondered why would NGD institute such a thing as the phantom swings.
Added to that, every singe warrior in Regnum is opposed to this measure yet NGD is yet to address it in any definitive way. The way it was implemented and its timing has always led me to be suspicious about the real reason phantom swings was introduced. I still believe to this day that phantom swings are there to mask a much bigger problem with the positioning codes ,targeting codes and attack cycle codes. It is there to buy the system a cycle or more if needed. They have no comprehensive solution at the moment so they cannot remove it for fear it may expose more flaws in the system. This is all mere speculation and only my opinion at this point but I can see no other reason for phantom swings as it brings nothing to the table in terms of balance and fluid gameplay experience. Yes! I'd like to see these and other common (some very old) problems sorted out before further game developement.

i agree 100%. These phantom swings are horrible for warrior players. If iam fighting some1 who moves around alot for example the second he comes into range and moves slightly away i swing and miss, and when i get closer i cant attack because i wasted it on an attack that did nothing.
targeting is also a big problem as kyro mentioned, and it can become frustrating when u are trying to select a player for 5 seconds but can't. And i too am crashing very, very much, never happened like this before, it has to be fixed somehow.

These changes are so badly needed. It's really weird not to have heard anything about it from NGD (if they HAVE commented on it, I'd like to see it please..)
I levelled a knight and only then I realized how annoying those phantom hits everyone talks about really are. The other two bugs are just as horrible. Positioning lag is a PAIN as a mage trying to cast a mind push on a barb. I've been knocked down SOOO many times by a barb on whom I had just cast mind push when he appeared 5 meters away to be, just to get knocked a millsecond later. Please NGD, fix this!
