NGD: Compliments of the season.
Hi NGD,
I just wanted to make this thread because frankly quite often this forum is filled with some vitriol and negativity towards the company. Despite me offering my honest opinion which may be unflattering to NGD at times, I want to sincerely thank the staff for their continuing efforts towards this game. I guess it has been a rough year which much highs and lows but I generally enjoyed my experience here for the most part. Sure the game has bugs, issues and such but still promises something for an indie game. I think this is why some of us longer term players vent frustrations. We grew with the game, seen its iterations and how much it promised yet falls a bit short of the high expectations. I am sure NGD fees the same way too. But, be proud. The game is still a good one. Don't let tiredness and frustration lead to emotional retorts. Just know that the game is a good effort and that you guys did quite well this year. Concentrate on that and push forward. You took some risks, most payed off some flopped. At least you had the guts to try something despite the consequences. I respect that. Failure is only a hop on the road to success. Of course expectation still ride high and as such you can expect more corrosive posts from time to time. Par for the course. All in all I think you guys made a big effort to change and reconfigure spells, tried to tidy up the net code, improve visuals, and tried to make some money while doing it. You even made efforts to improve communication. I end here by saying best of luck in the new year with your projects and I hope and wish all of the staff members and their families a most joyous and healthy Christmas and New Year. Best regards Artec Last edited by bois; 12-22-2010 at 08:07 PM. |

But all of them were necessary. Most of them weren't even radical enough. However, whiners already went ape shit, how would they behave after some "real" fixes ?
It's the right way to go, there was not a single decision that took the game into a wrong direction, everyone denying this just has no idea about games. |

Thanks NGD.
Although you did some things the community did not like 100% you continued your work and proved that you push Regnum into a very good direction. Especially this year had a lot of highlights and nice things for us players. There's not much to add to the post of bois. Merry Christmas. Enjoy the days with your families/friends and have a good start into the new year.

I'll throw my 2 cents in, as well.
Thanks NGD, et al, for the work you've put in. I've done my share of bitching, too, of which I'm not proud. There are those who will go on mightily about how 'messed up' RO is, but never take into account the word 'game' from MMORPG. Also, there seems to be a strong sense of entitlement from the user base (i.e., 'Since I gave this project money, my every whim should be catered to'). To that, I say this; I assume that NGD was started because a couple of people liked creating and programming, at least on some level. If the players all leave, the powers-that-be will just go back to creating stuff for the fun and challenge of it; basically, we're not needed in their lives or their game, and I thank them for letting us screw around with both anyway.

I just got my new laptop yesterday, and played RO for the first time with maxed settings about an hour ago. It ran quite flawlessly, and I have to say I am very impressed. I had been running Fixed Pipeline and lowering all settings for performance's sake, but now that I dont need to, Im really appreciating how good this game looks.
The balance update was also a huge leap forward. Tweaks are still needed, but it is miles better than before. There are much less frusterations, there is no class that is un-killable and un-catchable. Overall looking back RO really did leap forward this year, the balance, lots of new visual candies, the support system, more community communication, and more. It really is great. |

Thanks to bois for initiating this thread.
Yes, THANK YOU NGD, you gave and will continue to give us a lot of fun with this game. We all know some issues exist, those pesky little bugs no one like, those fancy features all want but so hard to implement, but still the fun is there and most of us enjoy to play. Let's hope 2011 will be a great year for Regnum Online and its players.
