i know, this is game and shit, but i was wondering, do people, who label their clans cccp (has happened in every realm iirc) do realise, that for many people living in ex ussr countries, it generally means the same as it would be called "nazi" or "nazis" in relation to jews?

for reference - russian federation is not the same as ussr, whatever people might feel.

This might be because in lot of countries communism is not banned, while nacism is. Idk why this is so, but I see your point.

its not about communism actually. its more that victims of the great purge, is by all means comparable to holocaust imo.

just holocaust is more spoken about than great purge.

I definitely agree.

On the other hand side, it could be difficult to prove that for example the shortcut "ss" would be difficult to prove to be reffering to Schutzstaffel, if the clan was called something something like "silent shooters"...

CCCP is not a coincidence though, and it can make several people offended.

I live in EX communist country - Bulgaria. I have nothing against USSR(СССР) as word. It sounds like nazi? LOL?!? It was the name of old soviet union. Nothing wrong in this. It is part of old times which is good to never forget. I remember good and bad things about that time - we got sandwich in school for 5st which was nice. When all this collapsed we waited with hours to buy milk and bread.

I became a chavrarche and pionerche and weared a blue and red stuff on my neck. It all collapsed before i get to konsomoletz. I got my first computer in that time - Pravetz 8c, an Apple II clone.

if we are on this road maybe i can say "some of my foremothers died because of the inquisition and i'm so offended by the clan name".

If you start complaining about USSR, you might aswell complain about inquisition.

Or even The White Company, for it being a racist clan ( wich it is not btw :P )

Any clan name could be taken offensive in some way.

You can not justify USSR with Stalin. It is like to justify Germany with Hitler. USSR is just a name, nothing wrong in it. My grand fathers and grandmothers was communists and was proud with this. I can not blame them. They live in different times and fighted for different causes. They lived happy, proud, nice lives.

yeah, ussr was name more like "third reich" - enonomical and political system devised and made happen by its leaders. as you can't seperate third reich from nazis, you cant seperate ussr from purge.

however you can seperate germany and russia from that.

USSR was a name of a union. Nothing more. What politics, communists, fanatics done there have nothing with the name. I have seen and remember alot things which are quite shocking. This times will never return, and it is good to never forget. Stalin is crazy and fanatic, alot from communists done unforgivable things to their people.

We still have statues of Lenin in some cities. Germans have statue of Georgi Dimitrov. This is history and it is here, so we never forget.

Communism as philosophy is alot different from what it was in this countries.
