Number of people playing/inscribed ??
Good evening everybody,
today as everyday i was looking the official website of regnum, and as everyday i noticed that there are 350 people (new players) inscribed. Everyday more or less 300 people join the community and now the total is 80427 people that own an account. Here my question: are these numbers real? or not? Because 300 new player a day is a lot, and when i look to the server status more than 400 people i don't see.. what's wrong in that? 300 people a day make the account, make the pg, play 1 minute and they unistall the game or what? I don't understand i'd like just to know how these statistics are done if possible. Thanks for the comprehension. Matteo. p.s. this post doesn't wont to be a flame, or an insult to nobody! Is just really depressing and make me sad to see so many people making an account and nobody playing!! I want to understand just...... This is a great game and i really hope that the number will increase soon. |

I think the counter is... plain broken.

the numbers are real... we at NGD have the same concerns...
Many people subscribe but dont download the game. About 20% of the people who can logg into the game cannot actually play it because of not meeting the minimum hardware configuration or not having the latest drivers, etc. currently we have arround 4000 active players. |

You should imo adopt the linux solution for windows as well.
A small client first, then download the rest from the net. That way you can show some nice screenshots or movies or whatever while the people download and get them hot to begin playing. over 300 meg is still a lot of time and bandwidth for (most?) players out there. |

Hello Tak,
That is not a bad idea but unfortunately is a lot easier for us to locate a file on certain mirrors, than to replicate the resource server. If we were to do a Windows stripped client, our resource server would choke in no time. Regards

Guess i got to buy some more ximerin I was speaking with two friends about your infrastructure a bit earlier, we were hypothesizing about it actually. Is it possible (if you find the time) to give some background information on your hardware setup? I'd be much obliged if you could satisfy my curiosity Cheers |

I don't know how the resource server stuff works, but couldn't clients download on-demand content from mirrors?
And maybe you could add a counter for how many registered people have actually logged in at least once, or are at least lvl 5 or something like that. |

Setting up the resource server requires some control on the server, some specific setup, etc. When using mirrors, you actually place files directly, you don't get to tweak the mirrors because they probably belong to another company.
And about the counters your a mentioning Megana, we actually have that. We check them regularly to see the conversion rates (how many people are actually able to play) and make decisions according to that. Regards
