Wine + ROL for English Linux Users (ubuntu)

How to get RO up and running with Wine with Ubuntu, other distro users can post thier versions as well. Thanks!

Step 1. Install WINE.

Wine is a compatibility layer (not an emulator) to bridge the Windows API and Linux OS.

Google for other distros. For Ubuntu.

Select Administration>Apdept Package Manager

One open, click Edit>Search and search for WINE.

Mark the WINE library for install. Apply changes, and WINE will automagically be installed to your Ubuntu OS.

Step 2. Install RO.

For this purpose Windows RO install will be downloaded to /~

open a command terminal, and run

wine RegnumOnlineInstall.exe

Simply follow the display prompts, just like you would be installing this in windows. (You can change the install path if yo uwould like)

One installed, you are ready to play!

Step 3. Launch!

You can launch the application in several different ways.

1. Terminal Window

WINE C:\Program Files\NDG Soft\RegnumOnline.exe

2. Application Launcher

You can either use the command above, or point the launcher directly to the .exe file if you have your environment set to launch .exe in wine.

3. Launch the EXE directly

The exe should be located at or your install path after "c_drive"

~/.wine/c_drive/program files/ndg soft/regnumonline.exe

PLAY RO on linux, enjoy!

Just why? Is there anything in Ubuntu that prohibits the use of the native installer?

sometimes i have to run it with wine, and its usefull.

The Linux client is very unstable, esp with ATI cards. Problems of random continual crashing keeps some of us from using the Native installer. This is some instructions for those of us who can't run the Linux client, even though we wish we could.

in this thread ngd says that the cursor seems not to be implemented in regnum

Cursor is working in latest release.
