Because people in such army would not have any family?
Let's say such a thing would really happen, how many of those people (in the army I mean) would stick with their orders and just kill people with (almost) no reason. Of course you would have some sick psychopaths but the majority would fight back. 100% sure.

Maybe I'm over exaggerating things for taking this too seriously but this is practically what's happening in Syria, and (was happening I guess) in Egypt

Found this video a little more interesting. As for the possible prospect of this happening, if you haven't stopped the military it so far what's going to stop them now i.e you can't stop the inevitable.

Hmm, just look at 1933-1945, germany. Or look at the Stanford-Prison-Experiment from the seventies...

Those were German soldiers, killing (mostly) Jews.. Not saying that it's not a cruel thing to do but imagine those German Soldiers killing everyone except for the people who control them and themselves. Impossible, you really think they would kill their own family? Of course some would, you always have sick people but definitely not enough people to 'destroy' several countries.

Basically I would agree. I would love to see people being strong in morale and ethics. It's just that history shows us all the time that so little is needed to get a human being to throw away the principles. There once was the GDR (eastern germany). Nowadays we know from the protocols, that a huge number of the population spied out not only any persons, but their own friends and even their closest family, wife, husband, father, mother, child. Knowing that this could get them at least to prison for decades, if not death penalty (which was part of the legal system until 1987 - two years before the GDR's existance finally ended)

I might be too pessimistic, but I'm afraid human beings are selfish when it comes to extreme situations. I hope to be proven wrong when something like that actually happens.

I dont think you can be this 'black and white' stuff
personally i dont think you can pull together every human out there and call them smart, selfish etc.

there are so many things that influence a person, parents, religion, the way they grew up or the things they've seen/experienced

Im pretty sure there are millions of selfish people out there in normal and extreme situations
but im even more sure that there are enough non selfish people who can create balance


as for that grey state stuff.. i guess american people dont want to be taken care off
i guess they just want to do everything themselves because we know whats best for ourselves
i can respect that, as long as they dont want to make sure that 'freedom' is everywhere
