[Haven] Instances and Server Activity
I'd just like to read what people think about instances (TDMs / CTFs) and how it affects server activity on Haven. The obvious fact is that it reduces fort wars, but does the general haven community care, or do most of you accept instances (ex. TDM) as a great new feature. I've heard some of you view instances as "something to do" when activity is low and others view it as an assault on general activity that should be removed? What does the majority believe?
Just want opinions. Last edited by Aarisewan; 03-13-2013 at 01:20 AM. |

I like it. I only want to fight against other players when i play ro, so the first thing i do is look for that. And lately tdm seems the fastest way to get me into a fight. Beats standing around at save for hours or trying to find a fight.

The problem for me has been the lack of fort wars. I found it hard enough to get WMC before the CoR release, now I find it even harder!
I'm sure however, once steam players are war zone ready and once enough people get bored of Team Barb Match, normality will resume! |

One of the things I really do or rather did appreciate in this game was it's open unique world nature. No instances sucking action into goddamn parralel universes.
I don't see how a game can focus on massive RvR fort and open field fights while in the same time implement PvP instances, seems like a total aberration to me... And we can see the effects of it, everyday on Haven/Syrtis at least since TDM started re-working. Most of people idling until getting a TDM invite, rince and repeat, plus a good share of them not even caring if a fort or relic gets taken. The WZ action is more lethargic than ever, almost every regroup attempt is ruined because of people magically popping out to join TDMs... So yes, I don't like at all where this is going. Champions of Regnum just betrayed the spirit of Regnum Online. These instances should be limited to low levels only, since they're a nice addition to them due to the terrible PvE, or at the very least the reward shouldn't be so ridiculous that you need to spend almost 1000 matches in average to get the full set. I seriously consider taking a break until the "Team Barbarian Matches" hype goes down and that we can finally enjoy the main interest of this game : open-world massive RvR.

Want instant war anytime, anywhere? Simple, turn off the new instances, turn off the bs relic system, turn on the boats 24/7, & allow gate breaks at anytime, regardless of fort/castle status. Let fort/castle status merely determine an extra length of time gates stay broken once they break. NGD said they wanted MORE war & invasions ... well, they either didn't know what the results of their new invasion mechanics would be or they weren't being honest with us. We got neither. The more complicated you devs make the mechanics, the less likely anything ever gets done ... jeez, enough already with all these gimmicky timers, hoops, bells & whistles gumming up the works, slowing all to a crawl ... KISS is the rule to follow in this matter: ~(K)eep (I)t (S)imple, (S)tupid~

Since the removal of RP from instances it seems as though instances are becoming rare already. I only got into one tdm last night. However the warzone activity was pretty vibrant between us and Ignis.

I cant put it better myself. I am already taking a break. I pop in every now and then just to look at the current situation to quickly log off. It sads me to see what a war game like this has become... |

More fun and chaos! Players should create their own fun, not have it served to them in the form of mini games. Too late for that i guess, RO will be more and more of a theme park from now on. |

The few times a fort is taken its either by a massive zerg -> no fun
or the small group gets killed within seconds because no reinforcements show up instances are fun and a really great asset.. as long as not every person online tries to play them The thing Im afraid of is that the new steam guys will prefer the instances over the warzone like most 60s do atm

As Scias pointed out these instances should be limited to low levels. This way they could learn to fight and proof a bit what wars are like.
It is stupid to see high lvls at the central save queing for TDM while Syrtis is devastated. It seems as if ppl dont care anymore about being invaded. |
