NGD - your free spam bot

I'll skip the criticism directed to the new "security feature" that's loved dearly by pretty much everyone - there have been a zillion rage posts about it already - and proceed to stating facts only.

Create a throwaway account. Put any email address there. Start the launcher. Keep clicking on that link (it's trivial to automate this) to request the authorization code over and over. The email address will be bombed with messages.

Can't wait to see if NGD will unleash their anonymous avenger named gamemod onto this topic. Or if they will try to cook up some cheap excuse and deny that the above attack works. A few thousand messages in my mail box, received during one single day, proves the opposite.

PS: If you happen to use the same popular mail service as me and aren't getting any auth codes at all - it could be because NGD was already flagged for sending spam and rate limited or blacklisted completely.

yup could be possible. what do you suggest as an alternative?

i suspect internet access in the end will end up like the public roads - every user will have a "driver licence' locked to an IP. and the IP owner will be responsible for the use fo the account int he same way that a car owner is responsible for the car.

i feel anonymity on the web is likely to end in the next few years.
