I must add tho, that some of the probs i have might be related to my internet connection - and because i'm not sure, i want to make it clear that i don't blame RO.

This happened to me before, but was fixed at some point ("fixed"... only got 10-20 seconds lag) and the result was the same. I ended up unfreezing after everyone left my screen, and of course, dead.

The only thing I can do now in the game is level, level, level, which is tremendously boring, because of course, the PvE aspect of the game is ridiculous. Around 170 quests that all run out by lvl40, and they REALLY stop giving any serious xp at lvl 27-ish, because there's just a couple of quests per level. There's no real merit xp-wise from organizing boss raids atm, you'd be better off killing 3 mobs solo than go in a group and kill a boss. both time- and mana/hp/arrows/repairs-wise.

Right now, all I can do is kill the SAME 2 or 3 mobs till my fingers hurt, and then do it some more. Even levelling up for me is not fun anymore, because there's nothing to do, other than KEEP LEVELING. I used to get excited about new skills etc for every new level, but they are USELESS now since the lag forbids me from playing in PvP entirely.

If *anyone* from NGD actually reads any of this stuff here, well, all I have to say is that I am getting more and more disappointed since this issue has been there since day 1. I don't think it's gonna be fixed anytime soon, which will only lead to a lot more players quitting. Hope you guys have a back-up plan, cause the way things are going right now, I don't see much future in this game, despite of it having great potential.

PS: Please, ffs, no "hey i got no lag" responses. Congratulations, you belong to the lucky 2%. I just don't care anymore. What I'd really like to hear is NGD's plans for the future, what the real problem is and how they intend to fix it, instead of keeping us in the dark about it and just toss a "we're working on it" every now and then.

if you have windows xp download this and set your max download speed to
10mb

http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/

this can assist with helping fix some lag... dont worry about the trial ending... i have cracked this.. so when the trial ends.. or whe you download it... just pm me for the crack...
1) go to optimize
2) go to set internet speed
3) choose 10mb

mann2411 01-30-2008 07:35 AM

hm i really wish ngd would fix it soon its one of the reasons people become annoyed at it quickly
such as me hunting today
attacking some guy lag when im turning for some reason i end up with my back to him

miraculix this has nothing to do with your connection.
It has something to do with your computer, I already know by now that your computer is not that high tech ;)

Are you a genius or what? *sarcasm in the air*

Of course there should be separate international servers, because most people don't have superfast computers and internet connections, one of them is me.

i don't know how others have it, but i can play regnum only for an hour or so then the lagg kicks in and it freezes every 3 seconds for 50 seconds:D, and i have to restart the game all over again! it cant all be my pc-s problem, so my vote would go for separate servers, so players per server stats would be as low as they go:D

what the fudge? Maybe you should think before writing something for a change dude. Or at least read all the posts. I said there was an update that kinda fixed this for me. And there was also a time when that funky router actually responded with very small packet loss.

I have 2 pc's, both run linux and windows, 4 different installations of regnum, and I play on all of them equally. They all experience the same issue. And I assure you, they are both very strong horses.

He was talking about computers, not horses. If you have a strong horse it doesn't automatically mean your computer is strong. :sifflote:

Valgus and Gigo, we don't need seperate servers, we need better servers. And NGD needs money to do that.

I always think before I post, and I just reread your initial post (and all other posts). But it doesn't say anything about it fixing it, only that it was fixed giving you less lag.
The problem "is" your computer not being strong enough, when I play on my laptop I get the same problem, the enemy gets rendered and I freeze in the meanwhile. Playing on my brothers computer (brand new 8800 nvidia gtx is the gpu) doesn't give me this problem at all.

if it's only network lag then your screen shouldn't freeze, you should still be able to type in the chatbox, run (see the animation but stand still.)
If the problem really is network and you have the lagspike I mentioned just above, try to download all resources at once so you won't be downloading them when meeting enemies.

okey, maybe I chose the wrong word. "freeze" meant I keep running on the same spot without moving, I can still type in the chat, but my messages appear only after I "unfreeze". Its not a lag "spike" because it lasts forever, a "spike" usually means short duration, that's why I chose to name my problem "freeze".

I also mentioned that I set all detail lvls to minimun, I have like 50-60 fps on a fight before the "spike" occurs. Actually even during the freeze the fps are around 50-60.

All 4 installations have all resources dloaded at once, so no resources are being dloaded in the background.

It's as simple as that: I *lag-freeze* whenever there's a big fight. Wanna keep asking stuff? :p
