The Arena Olympic Games I
 

Hey everyone, I was thinking of starting some PvP tournaments in the arena in syrtis. Everyone is welcome to attend of course, and there may be prizes for the winner, therefore entree fees. But that's up for discussion.

Anyway, I was kinda thinking instead of having just 1v1 tournament, we could have a bunch of games and everyone could compete in any game they wanted.

Here are some game ideas:

Single player:

Classic 1vs1 knockout: 1 versus 1, best out of 3 rounds wins the match. Each match is a knockout, so if you lose, you're out. The rules for the matches are up for discussion (who fights against who, eg same levels as much as possible, or completely random?, where does each contestant stand, are buffs allowed before or not etc etc).

Crossroads 1vs1 knockout: This game puts single player (as in not team) tactics to the test: Four players, eg A,B,C & D. A fights B, and C fights D. The matches take place *simultaneously*, and WITHOUT A PAUSE (once BOTH fights are over), the winners of the two matches immediately fight each other (so, the one who finished first has some extra time to heal until his opponent arises -kill quickly to get the advantage!-). The one who is left standing in the end is the winner of the round. Each round is a knockout, and each round has 4 contestants. It's just like classic 1vs1 knockouts, only with a twist, one winner out of 4 contestants ;)

Survivor: Each contestant fights for as long as he can stay alive, 1 opponent at a time. The player with the most wins in a row is the ultimate winner.

Classic Free-for-all Knockout: Players are pitted in groups of 8, where only one can come out alive! Anything goes, and the last man standing makes it to the next round!

More ideas are welcome for single player games :)

Team games:

Classic Team vs Team Knockout: Well, pretty much the same as with the 1on1 version, the only difference is that it's with teams this time. The number of team members can be discussed, and whether they will be fixed classes or anything goes.

Team Leagues: Teams are splitted into groups of 4 teams, and the first or the first and the second team from each group proceed to the knockout rounds. Kinda like champions league, or mundial ;) Each win in the group phase is 2 points, and loss none.

Team Free-for-All: Same as with signle player, only with teams, and maybe not 8 teams, it'll be total chaos. Maybe 4 or smth like that.

More ideas for the team games are welcome :)

We will also need people to be judges and stuff, make sure noone attacks thats not supposed to, no buffs are casted when they shouldnt be etc etc.

Oh btw, since i said arena, it's prolly realm specific. So i should mention I am syrtis. But this could be organized in every realm! Or we could agree on some place on the wz or smth, and if all watchers sit around in a big circle, people are more likely to stop and watch rather than randomly attack...

You love the arena, don't you? :P

The only problem I see is with teams, you can't control who you hit with your area spells in the arena so you might accidentally attack your own allies...

But otherwise it's a good idea.

Well it's fun in the arena, and it's an excellent way to train before going to wz. Test tactics etc.

Yeah it's a little hard for team games, since conjus cant heal and stuff, thats why maybe we should agree on some place in the wz...

How do you fight against your own realm peoples in wz?

Okey then, I suppose we will need to settle a date for submissions? Just to see how many people are interested in it.

I'm gonna leave this topic running until, say, the rest of 2007 :) I hope we get events and rules sorted out by then and that enough people are interested. If by that time we have enough people, we will start organizing details and set dates and stuff :)

Ask if NGD could do Global announcements of the Olympics. Oh! Better yet, ask if you could use their special Arena Island (I know some have you have seen it)
then All realms might be involved!

I would love for this sort of event, I wasn't around in '07 but I am now any chance of this idea being revived??

I'm using this kind of concept. Having chats with Miraculix here and there to mix our ideas and x out some thoughts that we think would not work or circle ideas we think are the best. Right now we are working on getting RBE (Regnum Battle Extreme) to be hosted at Duel Island with ultra thank you's to NGD. But we still did not get an answer from them yet, I'm hoping it is a yes, but who knows, no promises.

hahah - well I'm a low level hunter, it's the only thing I can do: Either I kill you (and I have killed you, quite a few times) or I run when it looks bad. Get used to it xD Anyway I'm pretty bored of Horus so I'm going back to my marksman for now anyway, you can grind safely :p

yea, you got me a few times, and got me to break my mouse in frustration once.
hunters are great to have on your side, but a total pain in the arse when they jump you out of nowhere. because of you and several other hunters, im determined to make of for myself, just to GANK YOU ALL. :)

but seeing as it is pretty much only ignis that HAS to grind outside their wall, itll be hard to slap around some innocent grinders :|

really? how come is it that when im riding around looking to pick a 1vs1 fight, i never find grinders outside their realms? (although i sound like a dick saying this, i dont mean it rudely in any way)

Go look around their main saves. In Syrtis, there's quite a few near the save both with the cyclops warrior apprentices and the snakes/lions/wasps to the east of central save. In Alsius, look around the beach near Imperia (although that's not a good place to hunt if you're solo) or near Aggers save around the beastly dark wolves.

Back to topic:

Has anyone check to see if the Spanish Forums had something like this, or may be intrested in the Olympics? I know it might be hard to translate, but its worth a try. The first thing about selling this idea to NGD, is to sell it to ourselves first :metal:

But ill show whichever one this takes place on.

I'm sure RA at first since it has a greater population, but if Horus is quicker to mobilize the Olympics.... :thumb_up:
