Unwanted players
 

Hi there,

I am one of the oldest players in Horus server - realm Alsius. For that matter, new players come often talk to me, and ask all sort of doubts.

I am more than happy to help.

Recently, some events have came to me. Some players in fact, are rude, unpleasant and agressive to others in a constant daily base. I know that some of them, even follow persons and kill their moobs, not letting them get xp.

What can be done to them? How can we have a better game, without these UNWANTED PLAYERS?

i agree with you xd some players are really unpleasant...

but i don't know what we can do more than warning them >.< send screens to ngd??
older players like you (and me?) should talk to them...

about the exp stealing =.o well...since we can't propely attack them anywhere....i advice people to suicide X) you can go back to save and run to somewhere else and the annoying guy wouldn't know where you are :p

I have a problem with RA server global chat.

I would like to kindly ask NGD to please post a reminder its an international server NOT just spanish speakers, and that to DEMAND people to stfu and speak spanish is plain rude.

a message on login similar to the "report abuse to ngd" would be nice, reminding players to be accepting of all languages, whether it be german or czech or spanish, english, and not force their views on others who wish to enjoy this game.
IVE met alot of spanish speakers who are my best friends, but also met alot who shame their nationality with their ignorance of people who wish to communicate in their native language.

something simple like "keep in mind that RA is INTERNATIONAL and to harass non spanish speakers should be a warnable offense..i understand enough to know what words are rude and vulgar and i believe they should be bannable like any innappropriate language (temp of course) enforced, by a global mod, as it stands now there is ZERO moderation.

I remember the names I was called sometimes on Ra because of various occasions. Its kind of like that on Horus, Horus is an english server, but there can be strong racism sometimes when a german, czech, polish guy speaks. Usually its a new guy just asking if there are other people that speak his language :P But all it takes is one sentence and you'll have 3 or more people screaming ENGLISH!

Personnaly the guy should just join a clan, or talk in party chat, but if its a new guy what are you going to do. It shouldn't be taken to extremes, when its a whole discussion then it gets out of hand, but one or two sentences don't hurt anyone in my opinion. Realm chat is huge, and really theres mostly spam on it when theres no serious action. Ignis on Horus can be torn apart sometimes into civil war (typically by one person who has paranoia)

The problem is just that you get immature players into games, this happens everywhere in pretty much every game. Better moderation is needed, NGD should have player mods imo.

horus is supposed to have mostly english speakers but it is international too...

Well, you can't ban them from playing Regnum just for playing it "the wrong way". I know it can be hard to stay calm and solve this problem with clear mind, but all you can do is nothing - I mean the offensive nothing, ignoring, not responding etc. If somebody keeps following you and killing your mobs, just stop killing, turn to him and stay quiet. He won't wait there for eternity, that's my personal experience. If somebody offends you verbally, don't react, he will get bored and leave you.
It is a pity we can't attack people from our own realms, sometimes it would bring a huge satisfaction :p

Ra IS international but I see a big disadvantage being not spanish speaking. If there is a party killing the dragon or other boss and some Holas (I don't mean it rude, it's a "terminus technicus" :superpusso: ) drops a powerfull item he wouldn't use, do you think you could byu it from him if you can't speak fluent spanish? NO, absolutely not.

Btw. grind for XPs instead of chatting on realm chat :thumb_up:

If some future new player asks me which server to choose, I always say - choose Horus, if you can't speak English, if you can, then go to Ra.

If guy is "following you and killing your mobs", it means that guy has a higher level, much higher. About what satisfaction do you say?

Virtual life (in a world of Regnum) is a mirror of our real life. And people communication and being at all seems the same. Most of people are good people, but there are not so good people too. Moderations, game rules limitations etc will never solve this. You can see it in your daily life.

Personally I am not native english, you can see it reading my posts. :-[ And when I speak in realm chat in my language most ppl accept it with patience. Recently someone ask me to speak my language in PC, and I do because people communication must bring only joy and happiness for everyone, nothing bad.

We must be patient and respectful to each other. This is the only way to save our community in good order. If the whole community will be good then "unwanted players" will feel bored in it and leave soon.

I dont think its a good solution to kill myself because of others... i have necro, i and can have the save far away...

I personaly dont have any kind of problems with anyone, but i agree that players shouldn´t be bodered by maniacs!!!! And they should be banned once, twice and so on, until they give up. I pay for premium, if i give up playing because of a non-payer player... NGD lose, and all other good and nice players that want a free game will lose as well!

About languages... i'm portuguese... i'm from Portugal... and i speack portuguese. Althought it is a similar language to spanish... its not spanish, and most of spanish speackers cant understand us. Never the less, when i talk in portuguese in horus... i always ear something like "move to RA if you wanna talk spanish!"
I cant even explain that Portugal is a country with a latin language, and words similars to other latins languages like spanish, french and italian!

I kindly ask for moderation!

NGD dosen't have a team right now for moderating alot, but player moderators would be alright, like the balance or testing teams.

Anyway I still don't think its THAT extreme to call for moderation yet, theres nothing that /ignore can't do. There will always be idiots out there.

Plz don't bring some kind of moderators or GMs to Horus or Ra. I don't want to have them on "my" server like on the german servers. They are a pain. If something like them "playing god" would show up on Ra I will really considering to stop playing regnum at all.

I play this game since beta belonging to the very small german minority on Ra and since then I enjoy the game with its pros and cons.

yes, don't join flame wars. Keep away frome senseless discussions and finally use /ignore. And don't try to teach somebody something. Know your friends.

I used to play a game called Travian... in that game... GM's received players complains and evidences (screenshots) of other players bad behavior. Breaking the rules of conduct and evidences against that player usually resulted in penalties or in extreme cases, like recurent bad behavior, a ban from game...

No need for constant ingame moderators!

To don't join realm chat flame discussions (if they are so painful for you) must be good solution. Moderation may be worst evil than any stupid cries, and IMO it is needed only if spambots or so works in game.

Much higher level than you doesn't have to be much higher lvl than your lvl 50 friend :-)
The satifaction would be the possiblity to send that s-hole back to his save. Unfortunately, it's not possible.

I pray that NGD does NOT engage any moderators. We saw how that worked in Muspell: The Gamemasters are a reason to leave the server, and the mentality of the players chances to worse.

If you cannot survive a simpe "Talk in English!", you should better stop writing in the Realm Chat. And if you just ask "Are there people who speak portuguese?" everybody will be fine with that.

I don't understand how a game that is international....has people from all walks of life....can have so many people that hold animosity towards other indivuals or countries....

Can't we all just get along?

I don't care what language you speak...if I see something I am curious about I'll get it translated. I look at the multiple languages as a great way to learn something new.

On Horus we have a constant stream of low level characters that are disruptive and rude. Usually only one or two at a time. Once they get onto enough ignore lists, they create a new character and start over with the same crap. Insults, trolling, disrupting discussion during battles, etc. Here's my suggestion.

Announce in realm that you are ignoring the character. If enough people do that at once, the char will get bored without an audience. They are only after one thing....

ATTENTION.

Don't take the bait. Don't feed the trolls. Use /ignore

/ignore should ignore all of that players current chars and any they create in the future,

Yes i love to help people out, but if one more person asks "where do I get magnanite?" then gets an answer and asks again and again every 5 minuits I may have to kill someone...

Those unwanted players that follow you around, you can just brush them off at an enemy gate, save, fort. Where is the problem ?
Oh and if he is killing your mobs just ask a friendly Enemy to camp that spot for a while.

well i sonr move to Horus because of in ivested time, items, friends.

like i said i ha ve spanish/multilingiual friends...they can speak n my behalf. and id never leave my english/german frienfs either.

the reason i asked for a reminder was so we wouldnt HAVE to go to extremes like a gm, but i dont know any other way when a person can sit there all day and tell everyone shut up and speak spanish/english and call them "you know the words"

it needs to be addressed some how not ignored. i dont get so bent out of shape and i can /ignore, what im trying to do is think of the newbies.

we were talking about war and clan suggestions when it happened..what kind of atmosphere does that show of RO and of regnum (i know they arent to blame but people will blame eventually if it continues)

Sorry for asking about the Barrel with my alt char on Horus/Ignis in realm channel. But those ignis quests are simply a pain. If I wouldn't know RO better I would have stopped playing in Ignis at lvl 7 or 8.

If it is to annoying simply answer only questions you like to answer.

NGD should play Ignis sometime yup yup! Wonder why we don't have a mod.

To be honest one of the reasons i dont play on horus is the atitude of some of the players there. i was surprised at the lvl of nastyness and racisum that goes on there. i agree that a mod is needed to stamp this out.

Not only this but maybe free Estrogen jabs as well. A lot of the bad behavior i have seen on whore us, come from what i can only assume to be acne ridden trolls with a Testosterone boost running.

Side note on Ra, i have never personally seen any racist behavior towards the non Spanish speakers, im not saying it doesnt happen, just that i have not seen it. I have seen the opposite to be honest.

On Whore us however, ive seen it one hell of a lot, like Twinkle a reason i do not like to play there. (besides, Ra's my home)

Some players flame you too when you only want to help them save their life despite the mob they fight is too high level for them.

PS: When i started to play, less than 3 months ago, i thought speaking and reading spanish WAS mandatory to log on RA and was afraid as a newbie to cope with game AND language problems at once. So i created all my chars on Horus which was identified as international/english speaking and i first thought too, that english was mandatory in realm chat.

Besides, if you want to be understood on the realm chat and not only by those who speak your language, best is to speak the common language of the server. I am french but/so never speak french on the realm chat, only in private or clan.

Ok this is what propagates this attitude even more. I cannot speak spanish, Nor was there a Horus when I came to RO. I WILL speak english when i see someone speaking english in Syrtis chat asking for help or any other speakers out there...i dont need to be flamed for it by the spanish community, thats my whole point. Im not being mean to you personally i just think its wrong to say its ok to have people force their views on others on what language they should speak if they wanna communicate. i would move to horus BUT,there are german/spanish/english people id miss, and characters ive invested time and money into so thats not an option.
NGD needs to seriously either make RA spanish only and allow migration to not "offend" the spanish wth our english, or make it CLEAR that RA is international and everyone should be free to speak how they choose without being flamed.

I have yet to see anything racist on Horus Alsius, but maybe that's because I usually play in the evening, around 8pm EST? Anyway, +1 to Solarus and Puppy. There's no reason to bash someone for not speaking the common language in realm chat. And even LESS reason to bash them if they use broken english. I mean WTF people, there is no point to that kind of behavior. It is senseless, and nobody gains anything from it. If someone doesn't speak english natively, they should not have to worry or fear ridicule if they write poorly, or choose to write in their native tongue. Is that not why it's International?

If I ever see anyone behaving like that, I swear I'll be like..."hey, fuckwit, it's an international server, don't bash them for not speaking english" Course, that'd probably get me banned for having a foulmouth, but I'd gladly take the risk.

o.O I dont say i would bash people who dont speak english on Horus nor force them to speak english... I said that at the time i registered i thought spanish on RA and english on Horus WERE mandatory languages.

Since English is the common-shared language on Horus, i try to respect others and do not speak my native language in order to be widely understood.

No Global chat in RA.
It can be or General (ppl around you from your realm), or Syrtis chat (I suppose that's your realm from your sig) so...

I agree with wudin. Many people get really annoying :fury: especially when they just charge in and think they can kill everyone in wars, and get mad because we didn't help them :tsk_tsk:

We use these people as diversions in Ignis.

And btw to the not speaking enlgish on RA thing... there is a reason horus was made... so really your argurament about them only speaking spanish on ra holds no water... basically just shows you're too lazy to move to horus or just whining to whine about something.

when you use ignore it counts for all the characters on this players account, unless he makes a new account it's not the same person, but that's not a good thing though

Why would we move to Horus ?
There are lots of english speaking player still on Ra, saying so just show how you don't know what happens on Ra, and I think I know why they don't move. I have 6 chars on Ra I don't want to redo them all on horus.

There are many options to find english speaking clans on Ra. Just please, don't force anybody from Ra to join the children on Horus :superpusso: There are many reasons for people to stay on Ra and there are some reasons for some people to move there back from Horus (Horus sucks).

I agree with gph and blaine,

alot of people have made lasting friendships and invested alot of time and effort into their characters, so it simply isnt just being lazy to want to move to horus and do the same thing again.
