Why did you pick your realm?

Regardless of which server you play on, why did you initially chose your (first) realm?

For me, personally, I knew nothing about the races, classes or anything (I saw Regnum on linux-supported F2P MMO list and just gave it a try; and it hooked me)

I picked Alsius because I love the snow, mountains, alpine forests and the color blue. All things fit in with Alsius. It reminds me a lot of home (NW Montana) in the Rocky Mountains.

So, why did you pick your realm?

Although I don't think a newbie initially knows which realm has items and rings or best leveling schemes.

When I first came to Regnum I picked Ignis first, because I'm a badass that like's red like that. Then I saw ugly dark elves, and went to Syrtis, I thought it was ok, but again skinny backbroken longeared elves made me leave, then I went to Alsius, and saw the clouded screen, boring music, and just went back to Ignis :P

I really liked my choice when I heard Ignis was the underdog at the time too. I thought a freezing cold atmosphere would be awesome like in Alsius, but it wasn't really what I expected, second choice was thinking of nice the desert is, how it has the whole Runic atmosphere to it.

i origionally chose ignis, which was great!! big wars strong team and being evil ;D

being spartan mage i found it difficult to get past lvl 34, and it was getting boring owning the same hunter that always came for my cheap rps, yea u kno who u are julius....it was too boring and hard to train my other two accounts, so i dicided to check out syrtis.

syrtis was good too, but abit weeker, i 3 accounts to lvl 28ish together with ease!, there were loads of quests and on the plus side when i was a noob i could shoot arrows to them bears in water, drown em and get high experiacne hahaa xD
but i felt life was too easy (apart from finding that dam liabry, the plant with the berries? and the bloody barrel i think it was) but after a few levels i found them alone =D. i met one who was a great well respected guy and i joined his clan. but by that time i was bored of this realm, everything seemed too easy. i took a trip to warzone didnt enjoy it much (coz there was alot of noobs (even lower lvl than me!!)) and to be honest we needed major people to take bak the herbred fort.

so i went bak to ignis, healed a few people till i got bored and migrated to alsius with a friend who was about to go. and alsius was great, we got to lvl 30 with no problem (being warlocks) then teamed up to get to lvl 35ish. although (no offence) most the people i met were jerks -.- they hated my friend and me abit, when we were at areana testing our skils and spells against each other these brutish lvl 50s came in and jus started owning us speaking spanish....later found out it was coz they were gna have a tournement in 1 hour (yea bunch of jerks). then when they arived we stayed at teh side testing our stuff but they continued to own us, over and over and over again. then we teamed up against the leader guy, we pwned his arse xD and they owned us, and we jus kept going bak for revenge. after a while my m8 quit and i made a barb, leveled from 1-42 alone, mainly trained maself (with some help from watching znurre, athor, abazigal, Pelicautghar, Reserus tintus and a few others) lvl 30ish abazigal gave me a lvl 50 spear so i was like awsome and i trained ma arse of for 6 levels while at the same time powning a bunch of lvl 50 hunters that always came for my cheap rps, not gna mention any names (mainly syrtis, mainly the noobs who are on teh rp rankings (no offence the rankins need to be changed coz these noobs seriousely dont deserve to be at the top)). and i became a awsome barb =O, o yea at lvl 36 joined 2 new friends warfilth and knek and took trips to meni (3 of us) owning all their noobs xD, joined claudias clan, but then everyone deserted me for HOURS!! I HATE U HORUS!!, people quit and here i am alone =( fighting for a bunch of holas that i will never kno...

shit i went a tincy bit off topic, sorry to whoever even reads this i jus waisted ur life xD

two years ago ignis was no underdog O_o they had loads of people and great fighters. alsius had great fighters i think syrtis was the underdogs coz they jus had millions of people (sorry but hardly no great players in my opinnion), not to mention how i saw ignis bullied them out and dominated the bridges, same with alsius dominating their bridges against syrts. alsius and syrtis bridge was really free to pass unless a giant group charged to their forts...

I picked Alsius in June 07 because they were the underdogs with the lowest population.

Things haven't changed much :)

I initially chose Syrtis, as a couple of friends of mine (IRL) were playing there, and I had no experience with the game.

When Horus opened its doors, I chose Alsius as I was guessing that it would be the underdog realm, and I was somewhat sick of the drama that was going on in Syrtis Ra at the time.

Actually - I flipped a coin and have had realm pride ever since.

When i first came on regnum i picked alsius. This was my choice because i guess i liked the landscape :superpusso:. After playing on Alsius for a while i tried out Ignis and stuck with it. Ive only met nice people on Ignis that are always willling to reach out a helping hand, and the higher levels showed me around wz. As I kept playing in Ignis i started to like the landscape (grassy plainlands).

I chose Syrtis because:

a) I dont like how dwarves look, even though goats are really cool :D . But having midgets in front of me 24/7 would be quite annoying (no offense ^^')

b) I have friends playing in Ignis in both Ra and Horus servers, and I wanted to play against them :devil: . Plus, playing in a desert is boring --''

c) Syrtis has great looking landscapes, and the races are of my liking... so I picked it :P . But the thing I dont like very much about it, is that emerald on the middle of the flag..... kinda stupid :tonguey:

A coin has heads, tails and ..... what about the 3rd realm? :P

I knew absolutely nothing about the game, so I literally "eeny meeny miny mo'ed" it. ^^

Initial pick of two realms, then heads/tails. Winner gets heads/tails from the realm not picked....Alsius came out on top best of 3

Regnum Online is the 1st mmorpg that I have ever played. I picked Ignis (although my friend played in Alsius) because I liked the logo/coat of arms and because they had the least number of players. Never regretted my choice! ;)

I picked Syrtis because of:

1) The terrain (large beautiful plains and forests)
2) The races (I am a fan of LOTR, i like very much elves and all his mythology)

Because Alsius is closest to Minnesota ;)

I chose Ignis because I simply went to the Syrtis character screen first. And the elfs drowned in make-up didnt exactly encourage me (neither did the colourfull bridges and buildings)>.<. Then I went to Ignis, they had elfs too, but blue ones, and they had a Lone-Wolf kind of buildings and landscape. So I picked Ignis XD.
Never got to see Alsius characters or landscape in the first 4-5 months of playing, really.

Well, i chose Ignis because :

1. i love dark elves :wub2:
2. in the video they're presented as the evil ones, so it sounded cool to me :p
3. in such realm you're supposed to meet mad mofos, and it's what i met :wub2:

Friend of mine (Deyan), invited me to this game. When i was reading site, I decided to go to Alsius (because my favorite color is blue). But he told me to join Syrtis, and i wanted to be in touch with him and couple more friends I had here from previous game (we were in same guild, and Deyan was our Guild Master there).
And that's the story how Anpu chose Syrtis.

Had friends playing on beta, with the "release" they invited me to join the game on their realm, Ignis. Since then I've only tried Alsius to walk around and Syrtis... after breaking the door! :horsey:

Dwarfs, if they ever make it so dwarfs can be mages i will delete my lvl50 lock
and remake him as a dwarf aswell :clapping5365:

because it was green.

i figured if i was gonna play in a game, id rather play while looking at pretty trees and elves.

I always preferred dwarves above elves and when I started to play my brother just played in Alsius(it was the day after the reset and he wanted to try another realm), so I went for Alsius.

Why did i choose Alsius?

Well i was conned, YES conned. I was told there
would be endless amounts of yellow snow for me to eat.
I have hunted high and low for it but alas i cant find any.

Seriously, I went for Alsius as id rather come from a Norse type realm
Than from either a desert or elven woodland realm.

Also I wanted to play in the underdog realm, as it was when I
first started playing the game.

I started playing Regnum in 2007, January.
All I knew about the game was that it ran native on Linux.

On the realm selection screen, I choosed Alsius because I liked the flag.
At that time, the realm selection screen looked totally different and there were no such things as bonuses depending on realm selection...

When I became ~lvl 14 I started to realize I picked the wrong realm.
All I had seen so far was snow, snow, snow and snow and as I had not done any research on realm climate before I started I had not known until now.

For some time I thought about removing my character (lvl 14), but then I figured "when I get high-lvl I will be able to get into the "green realm" trough the warzone anyway.
By that time I thought that all realms were linked together by the great walls...

So, I was 100% sure Alsius realm gate would take me directly into Syrtis, and that there were another gate along the Alsius wall leading to Ignis...
Because of this, when I saw Vinland forest I thought it was a sign that I was close to Syrtis.

I went trough the gate and got insta-killed by David Copperfield :D
Since this day, I figured I could live with Alsius being a big snowball since I could go to Syrtis anytime I liked.

When I found out Gokstad and all other green places of Alsius, and ofcourse the real anatomy of the Regnum world I fell in love with Alsius :)

Oh, and no - there was no map at this time.

What a great time that was, exploring was really fun back then.

Like when I took the road to Birka -> Dvergarrdun Ruins/Run only to find out that I had walked in circles from Montsognir!

I had a look at all the races and the decriptions of the realms/races, then decided on Syrtis, tbh I cant remember what swayed me :p

During beta I played in Syrtis. Something about tree-humping hippies got my attention? No, rather everything was in spanish and I picked my favourite colour (at the time) which happened to be green.

Then came the reset and I went to Ignis, but they turned out to be religious fanatics. I played there for a while, but didn't really got to knew anyone. Then got convinced to go to Alsius and join a clan of goats (the clan is long gone now, I think).

Well, the dwarves are filthy capitalists (?) anyway so I'm kind of stuck with my Utghar Pride (tm) ever since.

Ah, The Herd, my conjurer was in that clan for a while :)

I usually play after work so I chose the realm which I felt was most relaxing to the eyes. I also wanted an archer and conjurer and I thought realms had different classes. So I chose Syrtis. :)

Underdog realm. Less players usually have to use better teamwork so chose Alsius for that reason.

Hi! Choosed my realm because the colours of the flag. They look like the colours of the flag of my country; and because i dont like the light and dark elves xD.

I like elves :) always done, and nature, so it was more appealing to me than a desert and icelands

Exactly the same for me. I wish I could make a Fredu'Yoda :|

Indeed, the first time I saw the flag of Alsius it made me think of the Argentinean football team XD

Eh, I've always had a tendency to team up with the side with the fewest. Call me a glutton for punishment if you must. Blue being my favorite color was just a nice bonus. Alsius is the realm I've stuck with primarily because the community is pretty nice. I've made a few friends hanging around, and I try to help out where I can in the WZ between grinding spurts. The night-crowd is a nice group. I can't really speak for the daytime crowd because I don't really play during mid-day or afternoon. Instead I'm on in the late evening usually after dinner. I tend to be a bit of a night-owl. :) (I'm in Central timezone now, was in Eastern before.)
