Item +damage bonus nerf on amun

So I heard that damage bonus on weapons/jewelry is about 60% compared to what they give on horus.

+50 -> +30

+34 -> +20

Items still have same numbers in description but effect in char screen is something like that amun vs horus, so if this is true can we get 40% money back from box items :p j/k

not a nice way to nerf items that are bought by real money IMO.

Comp 08-14-2010 04:43 PM

I would have to agree here. It would be in the best interest of NGD to rectify this in some way - given that customers paid $$ for these things.

_Enio_ 08-14-2010 04:50 PM

While this kind of change might be nice for testing around with it we hopefully get it changed to the real damage values if this stays.

The current version is very misleading eg. when you add a +15 dmg gem to your weapon while it in effect adds only 9ish damage.

UmarilsStillHere 08-14-2010 05:01 PM

I do still agree that weps had to much of an effect on your damage but rather than decreasing wep effectiveness why not increase stat effectiveness? Everyone will hit more (people feel buffed) increase health/mana as well (people feel buffed)

If you boost the health enough then you still get your longer fights, just people feel stronger rather than weaker, downside is every fixed damage spell would probably need have to have its values increased.

Is there any reason NGD went the opposite way on this?

tarashunter 08-15-2010 01:45 AM

Ngd will never give money back...if they must give the 40% back only for xim spent for weapon,i can buy lot of bow.So i hope it,but i know that for them is a great dmg so they will never do that.
I can only add that:
i got all 6 classes lvl 50 and i spent LOT of time,MONEY(that are real and i spent lot of for gems and weapon for ALL 6 classes),i traded lot of rare items to have on my character SLOW overpowered weapons.
Well....after that i gone on amun and test it.
The result is that my archers(hunter and marks) now got completely no stuff, because hunter got the huge dmg nerf without head of the pack(i usually play it petless so now i must abbandone it because is a useless character),my marks does 270 normal hit with an OP slow weapon(i spent xim to make soket and find a gem +11ice...wasted,so now i got to find another weapon, spend other xim to remove gem and to embed another soket on a new bow).
My barb got eve hammer+soket but i can say is fine.
My conju's staff slow on horus do 300/350 dmg,i removed gem because on amun the same staff was a tragedy.
Then i won the champ bow after the event, and i put on 2 great gem,so i must buy xim to remove because champ bow now suck on amun...then i won it with hunter that without head of the pack for my playstile is definitely dead.

-ps:i'm speacking of REAL MONEY and TIME for grind and researc, spent to find my SLOW OP weapon.
Now i got to remake all to have medium weapon for each class?!No thanx. No other real money after i saw how the things gone, and all that i lost.

By the other way i must say that testing more the update on amun i like that(weapon lost apart).

ieti 08-15-2010 08:16 AM

You talk about damage attributes on weapons. What about Cast Speed, Attack Speed? I spend all my gold to get magna and then trade for good cast staffs and equipment. I doubt 10-12% CS will make real difference on amun...

Anything have to be done so this items continue to be usable and good with new situation. Some people spend real money to get them.

doppelapfel 08-15-2010 11:31 AM

Boni are now what they should be: Small helpers that might decide a fight of 2 equal skilled persons. Before it was easy to win with the right gear, no matter the skill (at least in warlocks, marks and hunters case).

Gabburtjuh 08-15-2010 11:33 AM

boni arent what they should be, ppl paid for a bigger difference, you can loot those items to, or buy them from xim users, this update is just getting
20-30%of the effectiveness from your items while you paid for 100%

Raindance 08-15-2010 12:03 PM

NGD won't give you all your money back and mail it to your doorstep's, however they could've done the Horus Anniversary event this year and gave us Ximerin as a present (about 1500 or 2000) as they did in a past event long ago, which was 1500.

A small gift like that wouldn't hurt would it? It could be for an upcomming event...

tarashunter 08-15-2010 12:39 PM

1500 xim or 2000?lol i spent more and more to buy weapons....to soket them...and to remove gems....
And all the time i spent to grind?!
lol....
No one told me to do that, but if i know that game have this kind of change, with ximerin i can try to find medium wepon not slow oine as i have.
And repeat,i done that for all 6 char, and when you buy lukybox, often you find crappy items,so you can immagine how many lukybox i used.
You can't know it,but ngd yes, they just can check my credit card payment on their xim services.

metsie 08-15-2010 01:04 PM

yeah cast speed/attack speed stuff isn't good anymore either.

It's easy to say that "yes yes nerf items, they gave too much xxxx for users" IF they haven't used any money by themselves. Everybody had chance to buy xim stuff, so it's not our fault if we the buyers got some good stuff from boxes.

As I mainly play marks now, I can say that without those 200-300k xim spend in boxes I would not play it. BECAUSE class is so limited by mana so only "fun" option to me is using normals and it doesn't work if I hit less than mage with normal staff.

Instead of nerfing items that we paid for, why not increase magical/epic non-boss drop rate in boss fights or something like that.

If they continue to nerf stuff that we paid for, there is bigger chance to lose paying customers, because many can feel that they got scammed and now have items that does about nothing better than some crappy special items that everybody can "easily" get.

And IMO only items that gave some balance problems were dudes with dragon ammy+boss ring(s), and even those weren't that OP. I never had really big problems against them, just had to play more smart than against dudes with "normal" gear :p

ice_zero_cool 08-15-2010 01:28 PM

lol guys, stay calm. It's not only the items you paid for that got their damage boni reduced. It's ALL (weapon) damage boni that got reduced, so in comparison to other weapons without the gems or to the non-bought weapons they're still better. so don't whine about this so much, PLEASE.

It's not only the xim-users who got their damage reduced!

ice

tarashunter 08-15-2010 07:41 PM

Ice,is better i don't tell you how many real money i spent for xim.
I got a slow bow on my marks that is OP in Horus, while in Amun do only 25 dmg more than a medium bow....
I done the impossible in horus to have that bow and i had it just few weeks agò.
On taras my hunter i traded Vesper items to have gems(that now sucks) and hammer for barb.
I like the new update really much now,but if i think the money i have spent, and the time i have lost to grind, and the boss item i have treaded to have slow weapon,i feel bad.
Yes this things make me a bit depressed.
You(as NGD stuff) can't ignore that, sympli becase at first this game was a items based...can you say it was not?
Take for expamle a marks that got daen rha bow and make him fight on horus with who got a normal bow....who will win??(If the guys got the normal bow is not seriusly retardet he will win...and sorry for the retarded^^).
Well with the bow i've buyed on my marks i do only 10 dmg less than the daen rha bow.
For you,by the way i spent money to soket it,by the way i spent money to trade ximerin's epic items to have that bow,how can i feel?!
The bow is just an example.
Take my eve hammer,i sokted it with a +7% attak speed gems...
Well, money for gems(more than 1 luky box because lot luky box as usual give not a great gem),and money for the soket...
Same for my conju, for my lock, for my knight and for my hunter.
The game will be fun now,but i feel depressed and think that i still can have in my poket that BIG ammount of money if i know that slow items became crappy.

It was not, at first at least :)

Way back NGD claimed 'Premium will never effect RvR' that got bent a bit with mounts, lucky box's, gems etc but a lot of those end up being traded to players who dont use xim, so its alright. And NGD have to pay the bills somehow :)

It just gradually got more item based as they introduced increasingly powerfull weapons and methods to enhance them.

For balance sake its worth at least trying to tone down the effects of super gear, but I think this may effect lucky box/gem pot sales, so more control over the type of item you get would be nice.

Though I have used a couple of box's I was never a fan of them, or pots, since you just dont know what your paying for, most of the money I spent on the game went on mounts, boosters, item fusions and paint.

If it backfires horribly then no doubt gear will be changed to have more impact again, I would rather a couple of players are 'overpowered' by their items than NGD get left unable to pay their way.

doppelapfel 08-15-2010 10:05 PM

As far as i know NGD always said that premium items should not give you an advantage in pvp/rvr, they should save you time.
Boosters - less grinding time
horses - less running time
boxes - less farming time
...
The only thing that doesnt really fit in there are sockets, its possible to loot epic weapons with a socket but boss weapons (some are the best available) cannot be lootet with socket, must be bought. Hopefully theyll care about that later.
You could have expected that NGD will care about this imbalance. The sockets i bought to put gems in my weapons will have a much lower effect now but i totally agree with it.

Shwish 08-16-2010 06:53 AM

imo platinum boxes are a good thing. if we didnt have them available to us, most of our players would be farming inner beach all day and never step into the warzone. it simply provides us with a fast alternative to farming. theres nothing you can get from a platinum box that you cant get from a mob, its just a whole lot faster to go the premium route.

out of the 20 or so platinum boxes ive purchased ive only received two or three usuable weapons and one that i can call overpowered. the rest was utter crap, which is okay because its a gamble that you're made aware of when purchasing it.

what im saying is that, the way i see it premium boxes does not create an imbalance, just like boosters it puts you into the action faster and prevents players from excessive farming/magna hunting/trade spamming all day instead of going to war.

Caveat emptor.

Unfortunately, this is what tends to happen with a game that still exists in a quasi-beta state.

I knew this going in so I am not perturbed. If the customers believe that this is the last monumental change to the game, please do not set yourselves up for disappointment. Personally, I see at least one area that will require a retooling sooner or later much to the angst of the community. Don't say I didn't warn.

Is being overpowered really worth more to you than having fun playing a game? I don't get it. It's like hackers (and trolltard hunters) – the rules and restrictions are there not because the game's creator is a control freak, but so that you, the player, can have fun. OP items is not fun.

you know whats also not fun, spendig money on something that, wthout any prior warning was made less valuable... thats not fun and in a real market would be illegal. also people like OP items because they are fun, they dnt make you comepletly OP to the point of hacking, but whats the fun in being like everyone else?

A fun and even fight that takes actual tactics and skill.

ncvr 08-18-2010 10:14 AM

You can have class, playing style and setup variety without having to have different levels of item overpoweredness.

doppelapfel 08-18-2010 01:37 PM

And dont act like NGD took away all your items, they are still there with the same bonus, they just have a smaller and fairer impact.

this is true, but i think what the original poster was referring to was the gap in damage between slow and medium weapons have been made substantially smaller making the amount of money/time spent achieving those hard hitting slow weapons wasted.

i personally dont care about this. on amun i still hit harder with my slow longbow than i do with my medium shortbow even though they hit the same on horus.

This is another important point. Ppl in this thread complained about losing their opness bought by items they bought or farmed.

+1, that's what I've been trying to say

metsie 08-19-2010 01:56 PM

I did test storebought slow30 vs my epic slow30, average damage of 30shots to same target.

slow30 from store = 284.8average 100-124 +13

slow30 epic = 301.7average 108-132 +18 +11 +12 +13 +1dex

http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/8949/bowfight.png

as you can see, that epic bow is WAY better but damage is only ~17more

so if this goes like this to live, then :( <- sad goat

It just makes variety of items/styles/players more "equal", but that is not good. because if somebody wants to grind 2000 hours to get good weapon he should be rewarded by good weapon, makes things too easy if one can just walk to market and buy item that is 90% of what best items are.

edit. now I tested same bows vs trolls, checked my calculations and storebought hits 10 MORE than epic, wtf :P

Kittypretty 08-20-2010 03:03 AM

So what is causing this..im not technically minded...but, where is this damag going? is it the correct damage? say if i had a bow with 30 extra damage (like say +30 ice damage. I know boni arent that high but for the sake)
is it soaked up by protections, or a misleading number? i thought it was more even with the new system, weapon+stat, and both combined to determine damage.

even staff mastery buffs, which say, +30, only raise my char sheet about 20, why?

sorry if that doesnt make sense...just im confused and no ones explained it to me..

tjanex 08-20-2010 06:22 AM

Well I'm confused about all of this updates...

One think at this...Cast speed became insane ...all locks have instant cast...
Any warrior die by one locks in 6 sec due to beetle swarm...
Take in consideration that when you talk about cast speed please.
Please be more neutral not only think at yourself.

About dmg from weapons....LMAO i posted and i will say again list of issues with this.Is complet idiotic one slow bow to not be slow and hit same dmg like one fast ....even stats of him is superior.
About warrior's weapons duno.Deleted all my chars and i can't test them.

A few thinks at all this remarks
-I don't care if you like or not my english;
-If you are not agree with my opinion argue;
-You have in "USER CP" option to not show messages from me;
-Mod has the option to ban me.
-I can rebuild all my chars with 500 USD faster than you dream.

If this thread gone in rong direction is only your fault you begin with trolling.
