Not if only people sick with the disease in Syrtis and Ignis switch over :p. Then Alsius will have only mature players. The problem with Ignis and Syrtis is that there are too many new players for existing clans to handle, train and show the ways of Regnum. It becomes worst when they start creating their own clans (aptly called "noobclans") then those clans get into the WZ and the players are still immature: those are "realm mates" you cannot count on; they will cowardly abandon you to the hands of the Enemy. How many times have I seen Syrtenses letting their own kind die at my hand, only to try to run away -- and most often fail. Of course there are some "ham players" in all those "spam players" but the pearl is rare.
The same problem happens in every community - once upon a time netizens would form a true community, sharing common beliefs such as the netiquette (even formalized as RFC 1855). Then the dot com bubble came and there was a massive arrival of new users which made it impossible for the veterans to teach the old ways to the mass; and thus the netizenship was disrupted and no longer exists.
Alsius is the realm which has the tiniest appeal to most players; this is a fact considering most players choose Syrtis, then Ignis. I think it has all to do with the introduction video which presents them with no real trait other than greed for land, while the Syrtis are "wise and just conjurers" and Ignis "dark necromancers fighting back" aka rebels. I personally chose Ignis because they looked like the third world against the almighty USA/West: black people, suffering from apartheid, living in the desert, wearing turbans, and wielding dark magics: what else could I ask for? Well, certainly not for what Ignis is slowly but definitely becoming :).
Since I don't care for background RP elements (and the game makes me not care), I'd rather play with the unnumbered but fearful, proud and temerous Dwarves of Alsius :beerchug: (even if I know that the realmmates I hold in high regard have cold feet about living in the snow).
