The good and the bad and the Event!
 

Hi Community,

As you may noticed, we couldn't make the Regnum anniversary quest a lot different from the first one because we worked very hard to provide this last update on time. So, we thought about making an improvised special event with the developers to break the ice and don't sit in "pozo" only to chat to find out that everyone chats at the same time.

That's why we decided to explore what war could give us to have fun and put those big avatars to lead the crowds.

In Ra we had an organization problem (our fault) as there were 1200 users online and we managed to lead them all to the same point. Poor Ra. :(

In Horus it was a bit different, we think it went well but sadly Surak had to check what was going on with Ra (we think there were some malicious accesses but it's not yet confirmed) and he couldn't lead Syrtis to the battle. Then Syrtis got a leader and could threaten Ignis to have some fun!

Our conclusion is that with every update we feel closer and closer to what we want Regnum to become, but obviously we still have a lot to do! :)

I'm sad the Ra event didn't go as well, but thank you very much for the fun on Horus =D

i just don't understand why both niclaim and chilko had to be on ignis while we had to wait for surak / his replacement. guess your top priority was pvping among each other. what's worse you said the event is starting on 9PM GMT, but never mentioned that is RA time only... oh yeah... and fps drops, untolerable. it was like trying to break the realm gate, massive fps drops.

I would also like to take the time to thank the devs for the fun tonight. I know your time is valuable and we appreciate you spending some time with your players. I'll agree that it was a success.

I hope you'll try this type of event again.

Surak was analyzing the server crash and that's why he couldn't be on Syrtis. Being on the office on Sunday isn't even part of his job description so his top priority could have been staying at home, drinking beer and smoking good cigars, but instead he was at the office trying to organize a fun event.

I was "his replacement" (Im "Policia Montada" or "Mounted Cop" in english) and while I was trying to organize Syrtis army I was unpleasantly received with some ill-mannered users (you being one of them) which was weird because when I was playing for Ignis I didn't even had one single aggressive comment even tho I regularly play on Alsius. Fortunately, most people played along and enjoyed the mini-event and as Kailer mentioned, this was just a test and future events will be more organized. For instance, in this case the game didn't even support big sized characters well (hence the "pony" effect on Kailer's screenshot).

To Arwen and everybody else, Indeed, we want to do this more often. Being in touch with the community is what separates us from other MMO's, maybe it's because it has a small community in comparison or maybe it's because we are really attached to the game, in any case, this is a good thing and we hope to keep it that way as we grow along.

Oh c'mon niclaim, after we waited for you to show up so long did you really think some people (including me) weren't going to be at least a bit pissed off? You pvp'd with chilko at aggers for some time instead of trying to "organize" syrtis while we waited like fools when all other realms had their devs and something to do.

Oh btw, a tip on future mini-events, no war please. We war 24/7, it's not *that* interesting to war some more after a certain period of time, no matter if devs were there to try and lead the realms.

With Ignis, I played for about 45 minutes. For Syrtis, I was there for about an hour trying to lead an attack on Alsius (Granted, epic fail due to not knowing how the politics were at the moment) and then following the lead on other helpful users to do an attack on Ignis. So if anyone may complaint about not paying the same attention is Ignis or Alsius.

Anyway, your comment on not wanting a War event is duly noted. Un/Fortunately not everyone wants the same, so we have to do mixed events from time to time (Anniversary is different from Saint's Valentine or Christmas). Our goal is to try and entertain all type of users, so everybody gets their turn from time to time.

I think the part that annoyed everyone in Syrtis the most was that we got all these fucking messages on the screen, "Kailer vs Chilko! woohoo so much fun!" - too bad we were missing it...

But okey, of course shit happens, servers will crash etc, nothing out of the ordinary.

The announcement for the time change btw found most of us already in-game so we missed it on the forums. Would have been nice if someone could log in on Horus at 9pm GMT and say "Hey guys, event is postponed for 2h, sorry for the inconvinience, please do not reply to this in-game announcement, Regards" or smth like that ;)

On the actual event:

Too damn short! Moaarrrr xD I liked the idea of super-sized generals leading the army. Having a different color also helps, both in the name and in realm chat. (and the status of a dev...) Probably less in Syrtis than in other realms, Syrtis tends to be a bit more anarchist, we follow noone :p

Maybe this could be some sort of new feature? Elected leaders for 1 week or so, getting different color in realm chat, the ability to make global announcements (only for the realm to see them though). Would be nice.

Would be nice to close it off with a nice global chat and docks teleporting to central island, just for a bit ;)

Hint: Stop spying on our game design meetings please?

Ill go back and shut up before Kailer puts a duck tape on my mouth (fingers?).
