Regnum, Ubuntu 9.10 and Open Source Drivers

Got a box here running Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit with an XPress 200 chipset, RS480 for s939 to be exact http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xpress_...eon_Xpress_200 is there any chance of getting it to work? I'm running the default Radeon drivers right now, not FGLRX or any of the newer R300+ work as I've yet to figure out how to install it.

I know it'll be slow shit, but it should run at low settings.

If you want use the catalyst drivers instead, Catalyst 9.3 is the last version which supports your XPress 200 chipset. Link: http://support.amd.com/de/gpudownloa...1&lang=English

If you want use the radeon driver, you maybe have to install driconf. Then enable a certain texture type (I forgot the name of this texture).

s3tc but afaik it's a hack only unless drivers have them, for example on intel cards you can enable it but it doesnt help so you have to compile libtxc

It's not a hack, it's an option because libxtc is closed-source and cannot be included in opensource drivers. It's S3 fault.

And also the fact that S3TC is patented and must be licensed for use.
