What kind of game RO is ?

  1. Is it a game where different classes can fight each other in duel ?
    • No cause one class can easily beat up another class by running around and shooting with a bunch of skills and one passive both granting faster running.
  2. Is it a team game ?
    • Of course not, since clans have no meaning also party does not give anything except common chat which can be replaced by mumble.

The role of clan
I would like to see clan as an association helping new players, organizing events its not possible since
  • We can't easly see level/rank/class/presence in clan window.
  • There are no benefits from being in clan except chat (alternative is mumble)
    • No clan herbs/items
    • No clan skills/auras
    • No clan banks (stash is not a bank: limited space, one player access)
    • No auctions or items delivery
    • No access to clan quests

The role of party
The same as for clan, does it make sense to be in party when You can use mumble ?
What are the benefits ?

It decreases mob and player difficulty - translation, party is pratically only useful at killing mobs.

You can see how much mana your party members have.

Clan IMO still has important role in game. It sure lacks many tools for proper administration and sharing information (like checking levels of clan mates who can grind with you or who is online in clan etc).

But, clan is a place where newbies should get first hand knowledge about game, gameplay, more about their class, getting opinions from older players, sharing experiences, getting help for quests and what not.

Of course, as clan banks, whole clan is currently made in the way that many things must be improvised, as you lack of some tools. If you want to track who joined, who left, you need to make external lists, try to update them at least weekly. If you want to know who is online in clan, you need to add every member to your buddy list, which is not what buddy list purpose is for. And so on.

For duels, some classes currently have advantages in certain areas, but as balance is not finished yet, I expect that to change. Just one of the examples is that earlier marksmen were quite hard for warlocks, then warlocks got enough improvement while marksmen's "tools" are toned down a bit.

Mumble cannot replace clan chat. Some users do not have michrophone or other equipment, some have problems with audio drivers, and clan chat is useful for them. Mumble just enhance some team work and only because you do not have to write what you want to say and loose your time writing and focus on your screen (if you dont know blind typing).

Actually, in some clans, events do still happen regularly (I know this is true because my clan has loads of them :D), and the class/rough level of every player in the clan I have some kind of idea of, since I note it all down incase I ever need to know. And yes, while clans have mumble, like Anpu said, it's not ideal for everyone, so clan chat is still very important.

However, you are right, being in any clan doesn't mark you apart from any other clan, because the only thing that changes is the tag beneath your name and the people you talk to and work with.

We do need something that sets one clan apart from another in a more gameplay-type way.

Well you could if it could keep up.... it's got something like 30 second lag on it :cuac:

He's right about seeing mana in the party. It's useful for conjurers. They can give mana or heal. And to be in the party helps you to fight superbosses.

Can you imagine when everyone doesn't have parties while people keep asking for mana or heal and scream to conjurers over and over?

But it is quite laggy, and it often doesn't show actual mana, conjurer often has to estimate it for himself (by observing his allies, and spells they cast all the time). It would be more useful if mana data would be updated more frequently.

umm yes it happens at every fort war and which is why alot of conjurers have either went to warjuring or stopped playing conjing altogether because someone thought that they were the shit and deserved mana before someone else did and raged at the conj(s)
