I've never done the quests to be honest. 500% scrolls are your friend.
I participate in war quite a bit, gaining anywhere from 3000-6000 exp per kill depending on how much damage I make. This is quite a bit considering "Challenging" mobs give me just over 1k. So I like to balance war and grinding, fluctuating between the two.
1. Because player kills are awesome exp with booster scrolls (better so if you're barb).
2. I am completing WM quest before I reach 60. I already have enough wmc for two items of armour and I've just reached level 56.
3. By participating in war you are enhancing your skills in the warzone instead of fighting mindless mobs.
3. Switching to grinding (challenging and normal mobs are best) is a quick way to gain a bucket load of exp if you find the right spot, and is a good time killer until war. Always be on your look out and keep buffs up. Don't let your health/mana get too low in case gankers attempt to finish you off.
While grinding you'll also pick up valuable loot which you can hand in for realm tasks. Whiskers are generally good and provide a lot of exp. Anywhere between 17k-22k.
Don't bother with the "Defeat shitloads of enemy realm players". It's just not worth it. If you're going to do realm tasks, just go for the loot.
Ultimately grinding sucks, and is a huge bore. But balancing it out with war can make it a lot better.
Now if I'm honest, I hope you don't make 60 because Syrtis has enough fucking archers.
Good luck.
