So you're a left-hander, because you make extensive use of your left hand, even if you don't use it for writing.
I'm a left hander too. I was forced to use my right hand to control the mouse and some other things, but fortunately I could go back to my left hand. Nowadays, I still use the mouse on the right hand, but I control the trackpad on my laptops with the left :P

Definitely, you're left hander or ambidextrous (more probably a left hander). It may be that your teachers forced you to use your right hand.
I'm intrigued about it being genetic... There's only one left hander in my family, and it's me. The grandfather of my grandmother was a lefty, and I kinda look like him.
