I think you have it backward.
We can avoid many misunderstandings, share more important thoughts and make forum moderator's life easier if we knew how to stop seeing imaginary insults. We can increase discussion quality by giving other people the benefit of the doubt for the intent of their post. I agree with Zordak, an insult is less about the words and more about the intent of the post.
You must accept that not everyone will share your definition of insult. We come from different countries, different backgrounds, different levels of English and unintentional insults are unavoidable. Instead it's you who must adjust to grow thicker skin, and not respond with intentional insult if there's a chance that the other guy didn't mean to offend you.
