Graphics and mods

Don't know if this has been posted before or not but...
Would it be possible to have better graphics in the game via an update or would the entire game have to be redone? I like the game as it is, it is very fun but if there was a way to make better graphics that would be awesome and attract some of my friends that play WOW. Also would it be possible to make a mod for this game changing graphics/quests. And one more question is it possible for me to make my own server? I don't have the bandwidth for many people but I think that it would be cool to have a server to tinker around with.
