Pets

Every time I get a pet it disappears when I log out and when I log back in it's gone.
What's up with that?

The worst thing is having a pet lose control and become idle that you can't release without logging off (Ghosts are by far the worst)...

I don't mind claiming a new pet after logging on (Would be nice to have the old one there) but would really like to see some sort of disperse control method for them.
