Default Instant winter stroke cast while running??

I witness a few times (before and after last update) some marks freezing his pursuers with instant casted winter stroke while running (without stopping at all!). I mean wtf runnning and casting instant winter stroke?? How is that possible?? I can't do that, I have to stop LOL. Can somebody explain to me that this is not a cheat?

Winterstroke have 0,5 sec cast speed if i am not wrong. Maybe if some marksman have some gems in there gear/wep with +% castspeed than it goes so fast than they dont stop. Im not 100% sure about it.

regards and sorry about my crap english.

It's already a really short cast time, and then with some cast speed gear it may look instant.

Yes, I am aware that winter stroke has a 0,5 secs casting time and with extra cs items can be faster, but running and shooting his pursuers without having to stop???? hmmmm

It might look completely instant due to the position interleaving and the considerably slow update rate on positions (compared to an fps eg.) especially with the new network code.

However even small amounts of +cs make 0.5s casts instantish so its always worth to have some as marks (for BoW aswell).

Ensnaring arrow and Shield Pierce would have the same effect. And no matter how much cast speed you have, you still going to have to stop however short it is.

Thats what I thought. I mean when I have to shoot I have to stop even if it is for a brief moment but those (few) marks didnt stop at all while shooting their pursuers. I don't know if there are other classes -mages?- who can do that too. It would be interesting to know if someone have had experiences with mages in that matter.

It just looks like they didnt stop at all due to technical limitations.

Example:
Lets say you get an update on the position of players around you once evry 0.5s (on current RO the update timings change with the distance towards your targets from some patches ago, closer targets get polled more frequent then farther away ones, i dont know about the actial timings).
To make them no "hop" from position to position you client interleaves their movement, smoothens it and adds animations depending what state that player is in (eg. strafe left). Now when the player casts a very quick spell in between 2 position updates on your client it might look like he didnt stop at all, in fact he did stop a small amount of time but it isnt shown on your screen. The stopping might end up him moving less distance (eg looks like slowed down a bit).

[position update] --- [player cast starts]-[player cast finishs] --- [position update]
== you dont see him stop

[position update] --- [player cast starts] --- [position update] ---[player cast finishs] --- [position update]
== you see him stop (you might even see him stop longer then he actually does since the next "move" you see only with the 3rd position update which might come in later then he actually started moving after the cast)

In short, thats simplay technical limitations making it seems cast "on the run", the farther you are away the more likely this happens as the poll times increase with range IIRC.

With a certain bow and pauldrons i possess (which i don't use anymore) I'm able to hit +16% cast speed which is decent for a marksman. Trust me, we have to stop when casting a 0.5 second spell even if it isn't long.

Yes the explantion could be visual technical limitations. But this would apply to the pursuers too right? I mean the pursuers with cs items would shoot without apparently having to stop, but I never saw that. Maybe other ppl saw it?
