Okey so I was well into grinding these days, and sometime when I was bored I figured I'd play with Excel a bit and draw up a few charts with numbers about levelling.
Okay, so we start with the amount of XP you have when you start each level: Code:

Nothing weird here. But I was so tired of leveling, that I thought it's not just getting harder, I'm hitting a goddamn wall at these 40+ levels, what's the matter? So, I calculated the number of mobs you need to kill at each level, to gain a new level, assuming you killed mobs that are equal level to your own. Here are the numbers: Code:

Watch how it's ascending linear from 1-30, then it gets steeper for 31-40, and then even steeper at 41-50.... Okey maybe you don't see it. Thankfully, we can prove it and also see just how much steeper it gets by calculating the derivative. We don't know the equation, so we have to do dy/dx for every 2 points in the graph, levels, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, etc etc. Ideally, this would be a steady line, maybe ascending, meaning that each level gets harder (ie, needs more kills) at the same rate as every level. Heh, far from the truth. This is the derivative of the above graph: ![]() Now it's crystal clear: Levels 1-30 seem normal, they have a difficulty rating of around 20. Levels 30-40 get significantly harder, that is, each new level in the 30's is getting harder at a faster rate than before, it's not "just" getting harder. The "difficulty rating" there is around 60. This becomes even worse in the 40-50 region, where there is another clear jump. The difficulty rating there is 3 times larger than in the 30's, around 180!!!! This means: For levels 1-30, each level is around 20 "units" harder than the previous. For levels 30-40, each level is around 60 "units" harder than the previous, and for levels 40-50 each level is around 180 "units" harder than the previous.... There is a clear difference between lvls 1-30, 30-40, and 40-50... Everyone felt it, and now there is proof! ;p BTW, notice that little spike on lvl34 and lvl42? They are a little bit harder than the rest, harder than expected, that is ![]() Ah well. Nothing we can do about it, we just need to keeeep on levelling. By the way, the total number of mobs you have to kill to get from lvl1 to lvl50 is about 27317. Yeah.

You really had to be bored grinding ! But congrats for the charts, it shows a good view of the difficulty to reach high lvls. (a bit cryptic, maybe... but useful ^^) If you have some time now... mind to calculate the kills you got to make when in a group of 2, 3 or 4 ? (of mere Warriors. To start. We'll complicate with a Conju if you don't feel like grinding back... ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() The "proper" way to level without too much stress is to think of it as a linear process, where levels don't matter but you just got to reach 5,97M exp. Just ignore levels and it makes things easier ![]()

Yes, I was super-bored ![]() What I wanted to show you is actually the intentional "jump" from the difficulty of 1-30 lvls to 30-40 lvls, and the even greater jump of 40-50 lvls... That can't be anything but intentional ![]()
