BATTLEZONES Update - Info here!
Hey all!
We're currently working in the Battlezones. The map will consist on a much more simpler and open version of the one that has been launched a long while ago. Here it is: As you can see in the image, the map itself possess mainly a triangular shape. The violet dots in it represent the spawning zones, which will act as bases for each team, and as a respawn point if a team member dies. These zones will be limited by the game to ensure they're safe zones and don't promote camping, providing both health to those who wish to go back to their base, and considerably damaging the enemies that try to invade them. They'll also provide, when a team member revives, a short speed buff that'll allow players to get back into the action as soon as possible. The red dots in the map show small terrain bumps. Their function is to avoid the main road that communicates bases with the central triangle, to become bottlenecks for ranged players to exploit. In any case, although there are 3 main roads, considerably wide, you'll also find side lanes through the map's outskirts, forming a circumference, also communicated with the center. These can be used to both escape risky situations or engage in surprise ambush attacks. Finally, the green dots will consist on 3 small equally-sized zones (although by the angle in which the photo was taken, they may not look the same), where every certain amount of time mini-bosses will spawn. These AI-controlled bosses will provide with interesting buffs to those teams that eliminate them, as well as the tactical possibility of refraining the enemy from obtaining these advantages. The bridges seen in the picture are purely decorative. The zones that are communicated by them are not reachable. Lastly, you'll note that the map looks a little bit "empty". This is because we haven't added props yet, for explanation purposes. We hope you're as excited as us to launch these game mode again, and to keep on working in other match modes so we can bring the Battlezones back to Regnum soon. Thank you for reading, and have a nice weekend! Last edited by Frosk; 04-22-2016 at 07:37 PM. |

Hate to be the "wet blanket," but...

Many players simply stood or sat around their central saves, waiting for their match to start, and REFUSED to participate in fort wars or invasions. And if they DID participate in a fort war or an invasion, they might disappear halfway through it. If they were a relic carrier in a hotly contested space, that could be deleterious to an invasion. People were so caught up in TDM that they ignored -- completely ignored -- the point of the game. Unless the Battlezones are somehow a motivation to participate in War... they should remain unimplemented. How are you going to ensure that Battlezones do not detract from War? Rinky

A big issue on RO is moments of bore and moments of frustration. Players thend to rant for the first few weeks, and log on less frequently. You need to realize that TDM can add something positive for gameplay experience, which directly battles player retention. Are you argueing that TDM could be more enjoyable than normal gameplay thus people dont join battles? * This can happen, especially when you are outnumbered. However, those peeps who prefer joining a TDM (leaving the realm situation) in time of emergency probably would leave altogether if no TDM were around, because they dont want to face the realm situation that moment. So the real effect of TDM is way more subtle, it may draw away a few numbers here an there for peeps that rather wait for an invite then go for a random fort. Ask yourself, is that bad? Isit bad people look forward to TDm so much they wait a bit before going into another fight on some fort for a change? Everything that is fun for peeps in RO is a good thing, it makes them log more. Look at me, if i join, i fight as long as someone is around to defend/retake a fort with. No matter if TDm was around or not. But if all forts are fine, do i leave my realm for another fort? No, i dont want to. Should i stop logging on? |
