Default Screen filled in lines

Hi there everybody,
I just installed the client and I tried to play four or five times, but I always get the screen filled in lines; the first time, selecting the realm, I got that bug. The next time I could have choose the realm, but it got stuck the next page... there's a video problem, but don't know what the heck to do... It goes bot for fullscreen and windowed.
Any help?

edit:
I forgot to say that: I'm on the last updated ubuntu... I just installed the client, do I have to install something else?
ps: now it stops by the confirming realm window, I choose the realm and then I just see lines, some sort of description of the realm I cannot read cause of the lines and Confirm or Back. Clicking Confirm doesn't help: I've got to choose the race, but all the backgrond is lined... and even the Molok [if I read right] character is lined, but not the other two.
Sorry for my english, I even got nervous.

second edit:
there's a screenshot of what I got

Hello Vaelfar,

What graphic card do you use?

Are your drivers up to date?

Regards

For sure it's a Nvidia, I guess GeForce II...
and yeh, I guess drivers are up to date. I got into the game, I can play, but cannot see most of the clothes textures: my initiation tunic is just one color with no shading, color that changes as night and day changes... blu in the night, red in the town by night, and some kind of purple by the day. Even other players' and NPC's vests are like that...

Try choosing in options menu a direct3d support instead of opengl or vice versa

Hi Vaelfar,

I guess you are using Ubuntu Linux. You should upgrade your video card drivers. I personally still use the 173.14.09 release and it works preety well.

This release is for 32-bit Linux. If you are not sure about this, type this in a terminal window:

Code:
uname -m
i386 or i686: 32-bit
x86_64: 64-bit

Regards,

Read this post for information about how to get the binary NVIDIA drivers in Ubuntu without too much hassle

EDIT2: Yeap, that did the trick. Just install the nvidia-glx-new-envy drivers and bye bye broken textures, no need to compile any drivers yourself and drive the package manager nuts. Remember to reboot the pc, not just restart X.
