[Horus] A few statistics.
Hi folks.
Lately there's been alot of talk about "OMFG U R DA ZERG, U HAS S0 MENY MOAR DEN US, ZERRRRG ZERRRRG, WTFBBQLOL WE R UNDAPOPULATID!" etc. etc. So while I was waiting for a film to buffer today (fuck my slow internet ¬¬) I decided to do some Maths. I was randomly browsing the highscores when I thought it might be an idea to add up some clan numbers to try and see who out numbers who. NOW, before I start, I know that not everyone is in a clan. Not everyone will be active. Not everyone is this, that and the other. I know this, these numbers are hard evidence for flaming U R DA ZERG, HALP NDG GIV UZ DA B0NUZ! but just to give a very rough idea of some general realm numbers. So there you go. Clearly Syrtis waaaay out numbers both Alsius and Ignis, but the gap between Ignis and Alsius is not that far. Make of it what you will, but please, for the love of Surak, let's at least try to keep it moderatly flame free.

you can't use this for anything, some are inactive, some are banks, alts, there are no indication of level or lower level these are pure numbers not processed at all
you would need to play daily or have some sort of monitor to get some real statistics. but seems like you don't know this after reading your thread |

As I said on IRC, I don't even think it's that much overpopulated.
Ignis and Alsius have smaller groups and they manage to get big rp in their clan raids. Syrtis just piles up in some random zerg and get 1rp spam - a lot. Alsius is more organized - I don't know about Ignis, They seem to be masters of attacking from behind ;D That's why I think being overpopulated doesn't mean a thing as long as Syrtis really just spams with itself. So, Matt, in general - yeah ^^ there is a huge gap, but not in skills

I don't even know what to say to you anymore.
Just because you don't have the congnitive capacity to understand what I said, doesn't make it OK to just troll. By the way, the link was a Rick'Roll, original I know, so don't bother clicking.

This http://rostatus.heroku.com/world/horus
would seem to support the OP's premise...But would seem to show that syrtis has a mass logged on(5pm-midnight) and mass logged out (3am-9am) period. Personal invites to the game, will prob have a greater effect on realm numbers, at least the highs and lows, than the promotions - these will slowly increase realm numbers across the day. All i can say is, if your online during your realms low pop times, invite your mates who share your timezone. |

I think I did something like this ages ago in one of the realm number inbalance threads (flamewars) although it does give a rough Idea I think at then end you need to take into account that throughout all timezones each realm has maybe 1 or 2 hundred active players, so the numbers produced by this method although showing a sort of trend (we all know syrtis tends to have the highest with alsius and ignis swaping every few months) the numbers are just to large to be reliable
And thats without looking into levels, timezones, alts, banks, inactives... To get a real idea we need something off NGD listing for example how many accounts (not chars!) gained more than 300~ Rp on a char in the last week. Quote:

Now, sure that some are banks or alts, but they are banks and Alts of people who play. As for in active, there are many inactive characters IN EACH REALM. Coming to that conclusion, a rough estimate would be to knock maybe a hundred off of each realm, but still the ratio would pretty much be the same. You would have to be blind to not see that Syrtis outweighs the other 2 realms most of the time. (with rare exceptions of time zones) and alsius and Ignis are about the same, sure Alsius CAN zerg and CAN take back our forts, when we actually have people on, other then that theres nothing, as the same with Ignis, and sometimes Syrtis. But Thank you Matt for making this, I hope people will see how silly they have been every time they came whining to the forums because they got owned :3
