It all depends on your keyboard layout.
Personally I press AltGr + ^ + n, with Swedish qwerty layout.

I'm using an American English keyboard...
What is AltGr? I've tried using alt combinations to achieve accented letters but I have not had any luck. |

Anyway, for some characters on an American keyboard (using the numerical keys next to the arrows - or, like in my case, if you're on a notebook, Fn + Alt + colored numerical keys): ñ = ALT + 164 á = ALT + 160 é = ALT + 130 í = ALT + 161 ó = ALT + 162 ú = ALT + 163 There are many websites which have all the needed codes for this. These are the ones I mostly use.

That is because ALT seems to be ignored in the chat box. (Sorry, I assumed it worked.)

If you are in Ubuntu, go to System>Preferences>Keyboard.
Go to the "Layouts" tab and click on "Options" Expand the "Compose" key position and pick a key. I chose right CTRL. To create an Ñ press and hold your compose key (right CTRL on mine) then shift+grave then shift + N. When you release CTRL you should get a Ñ. For lowercase, press and hold the compose key, then press SHIFT+Grave then release shift then N. You will end up with a ñ. It works in-game.
