actually, betelgeuse is about to blow up "soon".
the "soon" is astronomical so it can be tomorrow or it can be next decade. maybe it did all'ready but the light din't reach us yet (today estimates says it's 604 lightyears away). but when it does blow up (and we are able to see it) the super nova will shine very bright on our sky like a second moon, it will even be visible at day. it should last for about 14 days then the light disapears and where the once mighty star was, there will be darkness in our sky. RIP betelgeuse, orion will never be the same again
