I want to know why REALMS ONLINE Exists
Why does REALMS online exist? Are they a knockoff of Regnum? Are they an official ngdstudios game? If so, why are they supporting gamesamba too?
Tell us the story of how realms online came about. Please. Tell us everything. Regnum was plenty good enough for everyone to enjoy. Was ping an issue? |

Realms Online IS Regnum Online. It's an American server published by GameSamba; much in the same way that the German servers are published by Gamigo.
I heard it was called Realms because it was easier to understand or some rubbish. Anyway, it's not a rip off, it's the actual game, just an American server.

Ok so, beings the server support is shitty and the GMs are spamming the world chat with stupid notices, wouldn't that make regnum look worse? Hopefully Realms can get rid of gamesamba and go out on their own and do their own thing like regnum. I played regnum for ages and I like the classic feel of it, but hate that not many people play on horus anymore... because they all went to raven. I'm still waiting for my Xim to be converted from sambas. Been waiting a month.

NGD took a decission to let Game Samba to publish their game. And why? For money and exposure of the game! Game Samba have the resources and money to advertise the game to a larger portion of North America then NGD ever will. Sure, for those thats "left" on Horus have seen some decline in population. But looking at the big picture, and the future of Regnum I think NGD made the right choice... More or less free advertising to a target group that NGD hasnt been able to reach with any kind success themselves, the north americans. |

Way to jump to uninformed conclusions :P
In the USA 'Harry Potter and the philosophers stone' is called 'Harry Potter and the sorcerers stone' because a big word like philosophers is scary and confusing to Americans or something ... Same story here Regnum is a strange word, Realms is nice and familiar. Gotta look out for those Americans, what with it being an American server founded by an American publisher.

definitely..Just try to take an unbiased view No one told you to switch. I for one never had issues with their server performance pretty much like Regnums.
I would rather be informed of upcoming events/notices/promotions. Unless you mean the whole notice spam that is in Regnum when forst captures...and now achievement spam. The GMS there I think do a great Job and NGD should moderate the chat here too, (yeah everyone says no, we can behave, but no one can) Least they actively moderate and answer questions, help players with stuck locations, and generally give players a sense of at least an official involved staff, even if its not NGD. I wish NGD would do the same, but guess they can't afford it or who knows. I know many would volunteer their time just as well, even with no real benefits. Just like seeing a game that is basically unmoderated completely, have a problem? send a ticket? wait months, maybe something will happen, by then its too late. TBH and this has nothing against NGD as a company and for their work making a great game. I would switch in a second, because I like the support, the moderation and the helpful community, instead of feeling like a dwindling playerbase of USA playrs who were sold was back when on the promise Horus was going to be the answer for our dwindling english population on RA.. I would love to join a time zone and server that is more fitting for me, however I'm done making characters again and again. We got an iffy "if horus dies cuz of it, then yeah we may let transfers happen" I still think thats unfair, having to stick with a server with no new players from my Country coming in, with no alternative other than..start again. Why should I have to wait till the worst (if ever) when NGD has already clear cut the line between english, and "american" I speak english, I speak spanish, I speak japanese, but I'm still..american. wasn't it enough to just keep a server with a common language instead of giving it to GS to advertise/support, and leave players like me stranded? (again) like I was on RA *least you offered transfers, 2 years too later but still, Nothing against any speaker from anywhere outside USA, my only issue is, timezone, and segregation but leaving those caught between it, with no recourse. If I am american I should belong on Raven by your own agreement with GS, so why am I not given a way to move there? Wasn't anything ever talked about existing players on horus already, or just the usual "they were silly enough to grind on horus after they left ra..well I dont want to. Sorry for the Rant. I just hate knowing that I will never meet any new USA players in game, and watch my time zone issues become more and more apparent, with "too bad'' because halfway through, you changed what the server catered to. If RA was suddenly excluding Argentina, one of the biggest spanish speaking countries in the world, you'd be thinking..what the hell? when seeing it still listed as a spanish server... I can't say i blame those people for leaving..but they have likely more incentive to grind again, money, fellow friends moving with them etc, but the bottom line is, it feels like they want to exclude gradually that portion of Horus' playerbase in an effort to equalize time zone issues. Just sucks for us who didn't want nor ask to be separated. I wan't to play with people I can understand, and I dealt with the time zone issues as best as possible but now it seems even less hopeful that they will be solved at least for me. but what now? sit and keep coping with even less and less staying and zero new players from USA? not fair at all to pick between dead hours, or losing all my work here because no plan/deal was ever made to provide a means for us to join them if we chose. meh so thats my unintended long whiny/ranty post..but I like Raven, shame I cant play on it with characters I devoted alot of time to. So i guess id just want to know, without hearing anything from either side, whether its even discussed, dropped, no go, so I can move on if Horus for me will just become even more sparse in my time zone, as I i don't have the desire to start again on raven as much as I love the game, if starting over, may as well try a new game and new learning curve, etc, as I dont wanna learn to ride a bike 3-4 times :P So hope it wasn't too harsh, just being in the dark and left hanging sucks. I'd rather just have an answer and look forward to something, or move on. I had some good years so its not exactly out of boredom, just left alot of players alienated with basically barring players I know, can tell regnum about, and being on a server which technically doesn't cater or support where I play from, so it leaves a bad impression to be honest, "sure I can keep playing" sure I could, but that doesn't make people magically appear online during my time zone and when I am on. Like I said somewhere else..not so fun playing a ORPG without the MM part :S Last edited by Kittypretty; 10-08-2011 at 01:08 PM. |
