game isn't updating

I installed the game yesterday and started updating now 36 hours later its still updating (2126kb)(I think) and it just keeps doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over . when I go to the settings to make changes they don't stay (I changed it to start at 1024 X 768 32 and the next time the update window popped up it was all back to the default).
Anyone have any advice ?

try deleting or renaming the folder 'live' inside the regnum folder

also check if the game is allowed in you personal firewall (if you have one)

I uninstaled and reinstalled the game and added it to the firewall list (I dont know which of these 2 things fixed the problem but it is now fixed)
