Combo 101 for new players
Welcome to the mini lesson
Combos in regnum can be quite tricky. If you use the wrong attack first, your dps can suffer greatly. (Lesson 1) Always use a basic attack before you cast a skill (warriors/archers only) Some people use one basic attack before skill, while others use two. Use which ever works best for the situation you are in. http://youtu.be/txIGlkjgE6w <--- proof of concept (Lesson 2) Timing is very important Try to press your skill right as your basic attack animation begins to happen. This way you gain dps overall. Good luck! |

Remember the days where you could cast an instant attack spell a split second after a normal?

With my hunter (medium speed bow), I can use a spell like ensnaring arrow/shield piercing immediately after I use a basic attack. In fact, if I get the timing right, it even sometimes happens almost at the same time.

Long bows have more range than short bows, and faster attack skills. This means if you use a lvl 60 long bow with range 35 (med speed) against a lvl 60 shortbow range 25 (fast speed) ... the person with the long bow will not only be able to attack from a greater distance, but they will also be able to do more damage per second in close range since the casting time of the sheild peircing is only .5 seconds... while the casting time of the short bow skill (dual shot) is 1.0 seconds. Seriously I have been whining about this sinec 2009 when the change to dual shot first happened. It's not right and throws off combat for users with short bow.... Why should ensnare be .5 seconds sheild peirce be .5 seconds and dual shot be 1.0 seconds casting time? NGD said it was because they did not want hunters to be assassins. For this same reason they removed camo + pet. For the same reason they removed the skill hunters once had called "head of the pack". If camo + pet is back, NGD is it not time to bring back dual shot casting time of .5 seconds? Fair is fair right? If you get two archers at a tree, running around casting from behind it, the archer with long bow will be able to cast sheild peirce then hide back behind the tree before the short bow archer can even finish casting dual shot. In war if you try to cast dual shot from the top of a fort, people are out of range before it finishes casting. The game speed has been amped up from what it used to be, so the casting time of 1.0 seconds of dual shot should be brought back to .5 seconds. Why allow skills to be faster than a basic attack without skills? Yes it's true, back to the tree hugging. If two archers are tree hugging the one that casts and re hides will hit, and the one that trys to basic shot will only be able to pull back the bow. |
