massive dmg disparity
I'm a lvl 60 hunter and the difference between my Dmg and other hunters is
like im a lvl 40 hitting the lvl 60 but I have no armor on. 10:1 is what I'm seeing as a normal difference, my bow is not great but its competitive. My armor is not to good.....but hell 10:1 this can't be right!! It's usually a 1v1 and we both buff about the same and I'm tickling the other guy and he is wiping the floor with me......is this the new norm? Should I reroll a new toon in gw2.. And call it a day in this game due to the F...ed mechanics? The difference with hunters that have good gear is simply crazy different. They 4 shot me at times. When I was last on about 2 years back this fight would be like 2 knights fighting it would just go on and on now I need to grind another 20 lvls but I'm maxed..idk what the answer is. Can gear be that different at the same lvl? |

you could be right...
but did you consider the case that their 4 shots might be during their Cold Blood and Dirty Fighting buffs, maybe combined with constitution penalty from break apart..? well, since you do sound like a veteran maybe you considered all of the above. if so, then maybe you can suggest some player names whom you find to be a bit OP. this is not to pick on the players, but as part of the regular due diligence that NGD should be doing to check for OP items or undetected growing imbalances. and yea, if the imbalance became worse, i would leave for another mmo (or not play) too. |

Amulets, rings, legendary equipment, socketed gems, armour enhancers , arrow type are factors. Also, your armour ( or its weaknesses), your arrow type compared to their armour and character build has its impacts.
The basic point is that if you go 1v1, your ability to get top tier equipment and augmentations ( pay or otherwise) is slowly becoming more and more of a factor in contests. All that was balanced at the level 50 cap has now become skewed and distorted so aberrations will occur. |

The main problem is the current armour system, but this balance issue has been discussed time and time again, and I highly doubt NGD can do anything about it, because we'll start hearing about the 10 year old and messy code that they don't understand. What you can however do is take less damage, and in order to do this you need to find the right gear. Ideally you should be searching for armour that is very good to pierce damage, and at least normal to slash, the two main damage types of high level archer gear. If you can find armour with %protection/armour bonus it's an added bonus. Sadly, there is little you can do vs. magical damage archers may have stacked on top in the form of amulets, rings, or gems. In terms of increasing your damage, only thing I can think of is debuffs. There is nothing else that can be done until NGD realises that balance is a priority and should've been a priority since the introduction of 10 extra levels and 20 extra power points for all. |

This is exactly the reason I started to play mage more. Your equipment isn't so much of a factor as when you're playing a physical damage dealing class. Plus Conjurers have defence buffs meaning you don't need to rely solely on your equipment/armour. I was tired of fighting people wearing multiple boss rings and amulets or those that could actually afford premium gear. Regnum is quickly (already become?) pay to win. I'd rather pay a subscription and have a more balanced game, because quite frankly, this is just becoming bullshit.

Ok Mate coming to your problem about dmg as a hunter -
Hunter's have very few dmg but they can use armors that give dex to increase the dmg, dmg also depends on your build/set-up , if u hit ur enemy very few due to poor gear , you should try to play with a pet i.e. Troll for dmg & tiger for good speed & to further increase their dmg use bestrail waith & to protect them use Skin of beast (both at 4 or maybe 5 if u have sufficient points) Coming to your armor problem - Just try to find armor which have atleast vgood or good resists vs slash & pierce including mana, armor bonus , dex for dmg & concentration for good hit chance. Try to use retaltaion vs barbs as it returns good dmg back to attacker. Try escapist when u buff SOTW to evade attacker's hits. As a hunter try to take advantage of camo & stealth dmg + dmg from pet. Hope it might help you. Edit : Cast speed is also very important

Thanks all,
Seems this is a known issue and I'm a lil bit behind the times. Appreciate the replies and suggestions. I will state the obvious and probably well worn concern that the pay to win model will create some friction from the customer base who is reasonable....to a point! Anyway I'm noobin it till I get lucky with some drops. The good news is NGD has really leveled the playing field with the dragon instances. I am constantly answering the ever present harang of "We need more archers at the dragon PLEASE" Thank you NGD For having your fingers on the pulse of the game as always!! |

It's downright silly the unbalance between those with boss jewelry and those without.
