Hunters using short bows??
Hey hunters (Ignis, Alsius, and Syrtis alike) - let me get your input. I've been playing w/long bow for a while now and I'm interested in going down the short-bow path. My question is - do any of you use short bows in PvP|Fort battles??
Thanks!!

Here's why I'm interested:
Tear Apart | Constant damage for 12 sec Hinder | -15% movement -50% hit chance Repetition Shot | 1000HP Piercing area

well
On my own personal opinion i think short bows are perfect for pvp, but they are not half as good at rvr (fort wars specifically) because of their range. You got several useful skills such as tear apart, wich does 750 damage at lvl 5 and comes out in 1 sec (break apart takes 2 sec, too much for a pvp, and it makes less damage but with a constitution penalty. I´d still choose tear apart). You also have a dexterity passive, wich gives 15 points at lvl 5, but again, there´s maneuver in long bows, wich gives us 30, though with a duration of 40 and a cooldown of 120. also there´s hinder, wich besides of reducing enemy speed it also reduces it´s hit chance by 50% at lvl 5 (i still wonder what would happen if combined with finesse... target hit chance -100%??)
Well those are my thoughts. Still a more experienced opinion might clear this out better than I can. Btw, I took most of the info from www.regnumzg.com.ar (it´s not perfectly acurate). You just might wanna visit the site. |

I think I'm going to try short-bows for a bit...test out the waters and give it until i'm lvl 45 - see if I like it. The range thing sux but you gotta love some of those available combos

Just wanna say that Repetition Shot is not a area spell, you can only cast it on 1 person.

Forget "Hinder" combo with "Finesse", the "target hit chance -50%" is even worst than the "evasion" algorithm (unless they changed it during the last month, I'm not fully aware of the new changes affecting archers and hunters in particular), you get hit anyway and no way near 50% miss for your enemies during spell duration (best used dodge + cats grace maxed and + son of wind to run havoc in enemy lines, or to run away from them). "Repetition Shot" is an area dmg dealing spell BUT it only targets one char at almost melee range in a arc of aprox. 180º in front of you HOWEVER it takes 3 (?) painful long seconds to be casted (if I can recall) so make sure u max evasion disciplines or else you will never see it work (by the way, if the target runs out of the spell area it doesn't hurt him). It is useful, however, in fort fights when the tanks meet, everybody wants a piece of a knight so they might forget you and give u time. I caught a pair of goats once and I discovered that it isn't that good, too much time and mana (and you won't deal 1000 + 100% weapon dmg cuz of armor resistances and buffs) for so little (you don't kill someone with 1000 dmg if you take 3 sec to deal it at close distance). But I trully believe u can do pretty nice things with a short bow (well I'll use it when I'm able to use some combos).

can u guys tell us who the xymerald bows are dropped from? also tear apart=very good i use it always in PvP ensnaring arrow also good does half decent dmg. but in RvR i still use short bows but once we have captured the fort i just run out and to the people so i can hit them. i tried grounding arrow but it didnt seem to do that much so i didnt use it much.
