Default Regnum Online NPC Search Utility: Windows

I saw a thread on here for an NPC search utility, and though I'd give it a whirl.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck on Windows for the most part, so the tool isn't very useful to me.

Fortunately, I'm a programmer as well, so since the server is currently down as I type this, I figured I may as well make my own version of this thing.

Unfortunately, the only data I have is for the Syrtis realm, so if you live in another realm, you'll have to put together your own data (sorry).

If you want to give it a shot, it's here:

If you happen to speak another language, and think this might be useful in some other language, feel free to contact me. I've tried to make it possible to translate the tool.

Both the game and (unrelated) my little application are free.

Hi, I guess you are meaning my tool, because Aarlick, Sunos and Xephandors tool are already cross platform.

My app would actually work on Windows (with some small modifications only).. but the big problem is there is no Qt 3.x bindings for ruby for Windows.

Why? Because there are no opensource Qt 3.x bindings for Windows at all, only comercial.

Howerver, I think I can promise my app already works on MacOS, and I will also try to port my app to Qt 4 when I have the time.

The other problem is: the ruby-qt4 bindings are not yet complete.

My last word:

Thanks for making this app... it's interesting to see how my work can inspire others

Some questions:

* Did you rewrite all of the code, or did you just port it for Windows ?
* What programming language did you use ?
* May I get the source ?

Thanks

Znurre:

I wrote it completely from scratch in C++. It seemed like a very simple little application for me, so I thought I'd do it. I think I probably spent about two hours writing it. I probably spent more time packaging it (writing a web page, and so on) than anything else.

You're most welcome to the source. But for the source to be useful, you'll need to download Ultimate++, version 2007.1 (you can follow the link in the Help->About box to get it). I'll post the source code soon... crossing my t's and dotting my i's right now.

I'm attempting to recompile this for Ubuntu, just for kicks, but I'm having some linking problems; seems I don't have all the libraries I should for development on Ubuntu Linux.

I may have Spanish translations for this soon. Not sure... someone has offered to translate at least some of the data into Spanish, and I'm hoping he'll offer to translate the translation file (which will allow the application itself to be translated into Spanish).

[edit]

The source code is now uploaded to the web site.

Oh, I may have it internationalized (well, at least in Spanish) now.

I've provided another archive that should have Spanish language support. It's in the same web page, so you shouldn't have trouble finding it.

Although, perhaps it's a little silly of me to mention it here, in the English language forums... but, on the other hand, if I tried to mention it in the Spanish forums, I'd sound like a blithering idiot.

My Spanish would sound something like this:

"I are having computer to program your [garbled] with finder. Sideload there [with link that probably takes them to outer Mongolia] and prostitute it."

Er, I suppose I should note that I didn't provide the Spanish in the program... a friend did that instead. Many thanks to leirbag for his support.
