Can't see NPCs

I got into the game with a Dark Elf but I can't see any NPCs or monsters. So I can't complete the first quest for a beginner.

EDIT: I just realized I can't see players too.. only when they chat then I know their location

Sync the resources at the begging. This can be done in the launcher, going to options.

WARNING: It will take a LONG time to download all the resources, but you'll be sure that this things won't happen to you (I mean, "ghost players and mobs").

When I go inside the game, there is a Downloading Bar at the top left. Is that the one that is downloading the resources? Just wanna make sure.

Yes, that means that it needs to download the textures, "skeletons" and stuff from the server to display them. It will take some time to download ALL the resources (the client just downloads what it needs to run & display), since it is a BIG database... that's in case you want to download all the resources at once and forget about them until the next update.
