Ubuntu 8.04 installer will not launch.
I'm running ubuntu 8.04 64bit.
I've tried both the beta RegnumOnlineInstall_64 and 32, and the official rolauncher, and all 3 return without an error or anything. I've set them all to be executable. Using terminal, anything I try to do on the rolauncher says file/directory does not exist. I've tried the MALLOC_CHECK_=0 and =1 with the two beta installers. For the 32 bit, it returns without error or success, and for the 64 it returns with "Segmentation Fault". I've tried G_SLICE=always-malloc ~/Desktop/RegnumOnlineInstall_64, which returns "Segmentation Fault" for the 64, and returns nothing for the 32. I've tried sh ~/Desktop/RegnumOnlineInstall_32 which gives "1: Syntax Error : "(" unexpected". The same error occurs for the 64bit. These are all the suggestions I've found on the forum. Perhaps somebody has something I'm missing? How do you "install as root"? (is this the solution?) Thank you! -Plover |

Yes I tried that.
On a side note, a minute ago my drive crashed on that computer, and now is totally dead. Linux is gone now... so I can't try any more suggestions till it's replaced. Thanks anyways :P |

I doubt it. I had both versions of the beta installer and the rolauncher... I'll try it another day. The drive was fine before , it's never given me a problem in mac os x. It just decided to quit lol.

Right, that's what I'm saying, if the drive decides to quit it doesn't just spontaneously stop working one day, it takes a while for it to happen, and if it started feeling sick, you downloaded something, it's very possible it could have gotten corrupt due to the drive's state.
