Two Camps
It seems to me that there are two camps in RO:
1. RO is just a game - the people controlling their characters should be treated with respect, i.e. don't annoy them by killing their characters over and over, don't save camp, don't run away from battles because it's not fun for your opponent. Arranged PVP, arranged alliances and realm switching are ok. 2. RO is a different world - the people controlling their characters are irrelevant. The characters are at war and realm enemies should be killed on sight no matter the circumstances. Arranged PVP, arranged alliances and realm switching break the immersion of the game and ruin the fun. I'm curious to see how many there are in each camp. |

I voted "Somewhere inbetween." - But I would say I lean more to the 1st option.
To me it is just a game, I'm not one for RolePlaying or taking the game and it's context/s too seriously. But the only things I kind've look down apon is realm switching and alliances. Like on Horus, Alius is suffering from underpopulation, so, from what I'm told, people leave Alsius to play for the zerg realm. Also that's what pisses me off about Invasions.. Is that normally in order to invade it turns into a 2 vs. 1 fight... That's not "RvR" that's "2Rv1R." And at the moment on RA at least, it's very much Syrtis and Alsius vs. Ignis.

Armed camps? Is this a reference to World War I?
Anyway I think theres 2 groups: People who play for fun People who take everything too seriously As for myself, I try to follow the old RPG concept, where you envision yourself as the person you are controlling. (which leads into mental disease YIPPIE) |

I think its still just beta game (regardless of the number assigned to its version), but the people bring a little more to it.
The only part I get overly pissed about is during an invasion when ppl just grind and bark out orders and don't participate. Having a multiplayer realm vs realm game with out team players sucks, but hopefully we will get more folks on Horus>Alsius shortly. Also the invasion system has brought a difficult choice to the grinders who are trying to level, whether to participate or to continue grinding. I for one just can't stand when they chose grinding and then try to get involved with the players who chose to fight off the invasion in the realm chat. Other then that I try to just take my meds and relax. |

Since Regnum has zero immersion,
i can't be bothered to roleplay. I can only apply real life moral standards in-game. The Categorical imperative is a good starting point.

somewhere inbetween, it's just a game, dying or losing is not worse than to be able to stop playing, however I take my "game" seriously by applying strategy, pwnage into it but still remember I'm not playing single player but multi player. Running away from fights, no thanks, letting some people live, sometimes. Switching realms, I don't see it as treason but I don't like it as I'll miss hearing the person. well I care if some person leaves a realm if it's underpopulated (like Matt) else not really. They may have their reasons

Matt, I always try to get our people to target Syrtis first, but they don't always listen to me, nor am I always online.

Whatever goes on out there is each of our own business, we're not friends ingame even if we are elsewhere, and ingame anything breaks down.

For me it is "somewhere in between". I kill enemies if I can, noone will be spared. If an enemy bows to you, take advantage of his stance and cut off his head.
On the other hand I know killing one player over and over is annoying so I usually kill the same player twice and then only if he deserves it :-) ad. RvR - although Ignis is the least populated realm on Ra atm, we have a strong army and a friendly community. So whatever Syrtis and Alsius, cooperate against us or not, we will chase you out from our realm anyway! At least we won't get bored :-P
