My character is gone

I have been away since Christmas, and went to play, and I had to recreate a new character! I created a new character and tried to use the old name, and I was told that name is in use. If it is in use, then why was my character deleted but not the name?

If it is in use, that means that another player has taken the name for his own
character. Since your character was deleted the name became available for
others to take.

If you didn't delete your character yourself, you might just have logged on to wrong server?

Check to make sure you've logged in to the same server as before (Horus or Ra) and that you're not logging in to the experimental server (Amun).

EDIT: Also, there are two german servers provided by Gamigo, but I doubt you have played on those?

I am logged in correctly, and using same world and server. I did uninstall regnum online, then reinstalled 2 months later. I just hate to have to work back to mage level 16 again!
