Tradeable ximerin
One would think that this would mean epic changes for the better in RO's revenue model all the way around. Why is this not possible?........

Example: Ximerin traded in-game for uber weapons/mags/armour. this results in Ximerin becoming the dominant currency ( much like magnanite is becoming) and even more imbalances. Middle men , brokers and cartels will crop up. Remember this is real money we would be trading now. You don't have to earn gear by grinding etc , you can just buy your way through the game if you got the dough . It would in my view eventually tear the fabric of the game apart. Giving a gift certificate via the website may be more appropriate. I can see such an option working better. |

I hear what you are saying Flightcap, but I was looking at it more in this way:
We have players/clans that have massive stores of items that are rare and even grandfathered items (read Ra, less so on Horus). We have pro grinders that drop grind. Let us say these individuals want only Ximerin for their stuff. They are then able to get a good store of Ximerin through their trade from the p2p players. This could happen because the lucky box items are not that great really. Consider selling a great epic item for just below the price of a platinum lucky box, or a superboss drop for 30K Ximerin. Some will pay this. Lucky box sales would plummet. They in turn sell (trade)Ximerin for any uber items that another f2p player drops. This could result in hoarding of gear, discrimination of f2p players who got no good drops leading to even more imbalances over time. Could you imagine a cartel of players with a mass of xim and able to buy and control the greatest items in Regnum? Worse yet f2p players left in the dark because they could not drop something worth trading for Ximerin. Eventually the game could reach critical mass and become a full p2p game in effect with f2p having to slave grind just to keep up with the others. This is a worst case scenario but sadly we are dealing with human beings and things like this can happen. I think NGD foresaw something like this and have not implemented the in game option of trade-able Ximerin. Good for them. Best Regards Artec |
