New to linux, cannot get game to launch
Hey,
So recent windows user, my computer wiped the OS out for some reason so I gave linux a shot. Using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. Graphics card is an ATI Radeon 300x. I downloaded Regum and went through installation just fine, but when I tried to launch the game it wouldn't because either : - My graphics card needs new drivers - I don't have directx - I do not have the capability of playing with my graphics card. I know the last one is not true because it played well enough on windows XP. When I downloaded the ATI drivers update specified on the Download section of the RO homepage it would not install for a reason that I have no idea - it could be that the graphics card is not compatible with linux until I do something to it? (I had to go through a few things with my wireless card before it ran on this OS) Direct x does not run on linux does it? Do I actually need it, if so where can i get it in a linux format, all I found from google yesterday was windows directx updates. Thanks for the help |

I think the Radeon drivers for your ATI Radeon x300 graphic card should have full 3d acceleration and probably work with Regnum and such a older graphic card. If you have problems with the Radeon driver, you can also try the Catalyst 9.3, which supports your graphic card (if you have a Radeon x300). Newer Catalyst drivers don't support your graphic card.

I just got the catalyst installed and tried with no change. Also Onemyndseye's guide did not accomplish anything. But I also mistyped i have a 200x card I believe not 300x so the catalyst doesn't actually do anything. I'm currently looking around for drivers updates for the 200x that I may not have to see if that helps, thanks for the replies.
